Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use money or yours' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use money or yours' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My cousin wants a Cabriolet. But an earlier model and I cant change his mind. He found this on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123
The seller is re-listing and has said the reserve is almost the buy it now... Any thoughts??
Is your cousin using his money or yours? If it's his, let him get what he wants. It looks like a nice-enough car, and the history sounds plausible for the low mileage.
I think the market spoke on that car when the bidding ended at $22K which is just about right for a low milage car. MUST have a PPI!!! Lots of mine traps on these cars.
I would not buy a 964 C4. That all wheel drive system can be a very expensive nightmare to repair... and parts wear out. It is not nicknamed "Sputnik" because it is simple and poplar.
Why would you need a C4 cab? The concept seems at cross-purposes.
I'd also want to see these supposedly 'rare' wheels listed on the option code listing for the car. I've never seen those on a Carrera. They came stock or as an option on some 1980s 928s and 944 turbos. The 964 had 16" Design 90s as stock with later year upgrades available to 17" C2 or Cup wheels. IMO the wheels on this car are about the ugliest things Porsche installed.
Then tell him not to buy the car and distance yourself from his Porsche buying process.
Besides he'll never learn if someone always his thinking for him and then receives all the blame if the results are a disaster.
Sincerely,
Macster.
^^^This.
If anyone ever asks me what car to buy, they all get the same answer:
Honda Accord
. Anything else is asking for trouble on your part.
How old is your cousin?
What does he plan to do with the car? (weekends only or daily driver)
Why does he (or you) care what his parents think about his choice of car?
I own a '93 C2 Cabrio and you better have a complete PPI with a leak down test. In addition, better make sure the car is completely reviewed for any kind of leaks, with includes gas smells in the front trunk, oil leaks anywhere from the front right panel to rear panel and engine, and water leaks. Also, remember this car is 20+ years old and all of the rubber will be rotted. So, unless it has constant maintenance, it will need a lot of work if he plans on driving it and wants it to reliable.
964 are good cars and a C4 is even better. My track buddy is on his 3rd 964 C4. He just bought a widebody. Like all Pcars they all have their issues but maintenance is key. Looks like a great car but high dollars for what the car is.
Sacrilege for talking about a wind sucker here......relax all Pcars are awesome! Except for the 924's.
easy on the wind sucker comments
LOL
I have a buddy with a 924, one with a 914 and a couple with 928's - to honest they are all great and they all suck - something about cars, they need fixing and stuff
I like the idea of getting as far away from this deal as you can, tell him P-cars are only for old balding men, and then never speak to him again
"I'd also want to see these supposedly 'rare' wheels"
Actually those are the Forged wheels that were optioned on the 944 Turbo S as noted, and on the 928 S 4 as early as 1988. The may not be Pretty to your eyes but the where very light and strong - back in the day. It is very likely that they where an Option for the 1990 C4 which stock came with the Cast wheel that looked similar to that and was called the Design 90.
Tell him to keep shopping and suffer like the rest of us. Plus pay bucks for having the car inspected and possibly not buying it as a result of the inspection. In other words, suffer like the rest of us.
