Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Short : changed the switch and it fixed the detent issue, snap back, and the lights HVAC not working. Car still intermittently doesnt shut off IG/ACC when you open and close the door. Is there anything else it can be? Long: Swapped out for the old/early style as that is what was in it, 4A0-905-849B. The car started to act up and would require wiggling the key to key the lights/HVAC to work and the lock would snap back to "on" when you pulled the key. The detents dont feel "great" and they still dont really now after swapping it. All day Sunday the radio/ig would shut off after opening and closing the door but I got to work and it stayed on. What else can there be? The car is responded to the door opening/closing with the window and interior lights. What else could it be? Confusingly, I checked on the car about an hour ago and its "off" now.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I cleaned the lock by repeatedly cleaning and removing the key with chain cleaner, it was astounding the junk that came out. Then I used a dry lock penetrant and lube. It seems to work about 50% of the time now.
