Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Fellow Pig owners,
Hope all is well, i have been searching tech as normal and taking some info from you guys (previous posts) and so it was time muster the first DIY on my 996, bearing in mind i have done some ICE stuff nothing grand just replaced the original cd stacker with a later model becker (original one not working) replaced all the internal speakers apart from the door woofers.
The last garage inspection highlighted worn disk and pads at the front and then duly proceeded to quote 695 pounds for replacing. Also worn front drop links caused some suspension knock.
Bought all the parts (for less than a third of the cost) and proceeded to take it all apart. Everything came off apart from the top caliper bolts as their heads shredded as i turned the key. Bought some stud extractors but because the bolts were in so tight they could not extract the stud. Needless to say i had to carefully drill out the head. (consider i have never done this before) so i already prepped myself for new calipers heheheh. needless to say i took off their heads (went through 7 drill bits) and removed the calipers of course leaving me enough stud to remove with a steelsons wrench.
Replaced all with new disks and pads... the drop links were very accessible once all items were removed and were so easy to replace. I attach pics for you all, take care and thanks for all ur help

Thank you, yes its obvious the previous owner did not, also it seems they were inserted without cooper slip and with an impact drive.
I was very carefull to remove them and inserted new ones as per reccomendation.
Was scared tho... thought i would lose the caliper.... nearly a DIY disaster....
Yes i hope so cdo, part of the problem is that we (as owners) tend not to do any preventative maintenance - if it aint broke leave it.... but things like this need to be seen to i guess.
Yes, i would like to document all the work now, as i feel the more knowledge spread the better. This forum is absolutley great even tho i got grilled at the begining hehehhe
As far as patience is concerned, i have learnt this lesson real quick.... but for this project i was very patient...3 weeks in fact hehehehe
Thanks again guys
