Well i have the same problem, the car has been to the dealer twice, This is what i was told " The car was checked 100% for any oil leaks, no fault found, service manager looked at it himself, and he told me this smell is because of the winter tires and the brakes!, Well i do not see any oil anywhere , and it could be true about the brakes............but i know the smell is still there and has been worse since i have installed the winter tires.
Leading evidence: 'clutch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'clutch' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check 100%' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Recommend sniffing the tires too (pretty kinky, huh?)

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Amigo - Is this normal ? Have a 20 minute drive as I exit the Targa I smell Oil burning. Nothing appear wrong with the driving or engine response, no warnings, my oil meters says oil is fine ?

Just my situation, may not be the case with yours but it sounds to be
I started getting this smell when I put winter tires as well. I kind of narrowed it down to warm days in general 40F or above. I don't get this smell @ 32F and below.
Humm.... Never bent over to smell the tires, and the car doesn't leak.....
I'll have to try that the next time I take her out!

My car has always smelled after a hard drive. I think it is just the nature of the beast. 10 pounds of
sh-t packed in a 5 pound space. It's the engine I'm talking about a true blivit.
Check under the car though, even though it might not be the rms it could be a leaky cam solenoid which will still leak and smell. Also make sure you differentiate smells from clutch and brake, and possibly coolant smells
Clutch and brake smells are pretty unique. Drive behind a Buick on a long downhill and you'll get a snootful. Antifreeze has its own unique bouquet. Sniff your coolant overflow tank. Oil and rubber IMO are harder to distinguish. I recommend sniffing the tires too (pretty kinky, huh?)
Turn your air con very low and then high, when the air con is very high it can cause a smell ( or relay engine smell) and it appears that yours occurs at high temps when your air con will be higher.

RJMDad,
You might want to look on your garage floor and look for oil. I had the same smell and small oil spots under the general area of both mufflers. The car is in the shop getting both valve cover gaskets replaced as I type. According to the dealer, this takes about 6 hours to complete. Definitely not something you want to pay for out of warranty.
I guess it just goes to show that it's not always winter tires or cosmoline.
Good Luck!
