Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Our local group has installed the spoiler switch before.
Leading evidence: 'Install spoiler switch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'radio code is handwritten' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect battery' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
You'll have to re-enter the code for your radio to work again; you should have received a flimsy credit card sized piece of plastic with the code on it when you bought the car but if not, most likely the radio code is handwritten on your options list under the front hood.

I'm going to disconnect my battery to install a spoiler switch.

I was also thinking disconnecting the battery might be overcautious.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm going to disconnect my battery to install a spoiler switch. Will I have issues with the radio (code or presets) or the seat/mirror memory on my '04?
You'll have to re-enter the code for your radio to work again; you should have received a flimsy credit card sized piece of plastic with the code on it when you bought the car but if not, most likely the radio code is handwritten on your options list under the front hood. I had the card but also found the same # on the options list in handwriting.
As for the seat memroy, I think you're out of luck there.
Oh, I'll also note, leave the car doors open because (ouch!) the windows won't drop down when you go to open a door after the battery is disconnected. Also, if it's not obvious, don't close the front trunk with the battery disconnected.
Good luck.
As of 2003 there is no user radio code to enter. That is why you do not have a radio code card.
Our local group has installed the spoiler switch before. There is no need to disconnect the battery.
Tool Pants,
I think you may be right on both counts. My salesman just went off to check if I should have a code. He said he thought there was a black plastic card that should have been in my manual. I was also thinking disconnecting the battery might be overcautious. Stay tuned for the official answer...
Hi Lee...
When I ordered my spoiler switch Jeff at Sunset brought in the wrong finish in error. My dash switches are non-matte, i.e., they are the glossy kind. You have the newer model so you'll probably want the matt finish. If Jeff still has the switch its the one to be mounted on the side closest to the passenger. If you havn't gotten the switch just give Jeff a call...
The other thing you may wish to consider is not cutting into the wiring loom like all the popular instructions have shown on RennTech. I decided to simply re-route the wires from the footwell switch to the new switch which I mounted on the driver's side of the panel. The footwell switch is useless anyway if you want to deploy the fin while driving.
By doing it this way, of course, you disable the footwell switch, but by the same token eliminate the destruction of the wiring loom, which in your case may void a portion of the warranty should an electrical failure occur traceable to that area of the wiring harness...just a thought...It also makes it a snap to hook it back up in the original location if need be...
Which ever way you choose to go, make certain that you tape off the exposed ends of the wires before you do anything else---so you don't accidentally touch the other wires or grouded surfaces in the re-route blowing fuses, etc.

Jim,
Got it done. I decided to leave the harness as is except to tap into the illumination with scotchlock connectors behind the panel in the dash where the switches are. I liked that better than tucking wires under connectors where they could work themselves out and wreak havoc.
Jim,
Just so you know, you were influential. I went away for the weekend and it started gnawing at me that I hadn't taped the exposed connectors. Got up at taped them before driving to work this AM...
