I've used the VAG-COM system from Ross-Tech for my VW/Audi vehicles for several years with great success and don't know why someone doesn't make something similiar for Porsche, or BMW for that matter.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What type of OBD II reader are any of the members using. I am looking for something that will be compatible with my 04 C2. Open to suggestions....Thanks....

POST 2Original post

yeah, I would like to know that too... which software is used for Porsche ? (like the VW/Audi Vag-Com) Thanks

POST 4Original post

The Equus works well. Kragen/Checker/Schuck has them on sale for $99. The factory DME diagnosis manual is also worthwhile for $110, available here . Following the links Document Search, Vehicle Search, Model, Group 0 General, and then Show Results.

POST 5Original post

my experience with OBDII scanners is unless you spend the big bucks, you're wasting your time. The cheap ones just don't tell you enough information. In many cases it takes the factory PS2 to really hone in on the problems.

POST 7Original post

i got this off ebay. you can also buy it directly from them http://www.autoenginuity.com/ when i got it the developer said that they were working on a ECU flash that goes with the software. he said he was working with a former Promotive guy for the ECU tuning. not sure if they are still going ahead with this.

POST 8Original post

I've been trying to find something like this for a long time to no avai. I've used the VAG-COM system from Ross-Tech for my VW/Audi vehicles for several years with great success and don't know why someone doesn't make something similiar for Porsche, or BMW for that matter. It would sure save trips to the dealer for simple "fixes." Guess we need some real computer geek that happens to be a Porsche freak as well...

POST 9Original post

skl, I feel the same way, that is what I used and loved. I bought the autoenginuity unit from Evo. The claim is that its as good if not better than the vag tool,. I have not used it yet, but I am hopeful. I think unlike the Vag tool, you do need to throw down for the the factory DME diagnosis manual as this tool is not vw/Audi engine specific.
