Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you've never driven a 996 and want to get the feel for one then I'd probably let you take a test drive, regardless of whether you plan to buy or not.
Leading evidence: 'Test drive, regardless of whether you plan' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test drive, regardless of whether you plan' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking for a 2000-2002 996 in the Houston area. Porsche West Houston advised me they are seeking a new car for a buyer that would be trading a 2000 996 with 32,000 miles, silver w/black interior. Are you out there?
Any other Houston area private sellers?
Ta Da!

Looks decent. I had planned to talk to this seller but since you're a local guy you should take first crack at it
I understand Victory is mostly selling older cars though I think they have a some newer ones right now. They haven't gotten the best reviews from folks I've talked to...
I start with the assumption that CLers are ordinary sellers until they give me evidence otherwise.
Of course I'm careful, and I wouldn't buy a car without a PPI unless there's a really good reason (which i cannot imagine right now).
I have an '01 Seal Grey coupe with 75K & a brand new engine that could do with a new home. I'm in Houston too and can be trusted. Am also willing to let the car get PPIed; in fact I'd pretty much insist on it.
I really have no idea. No matter what: I'm going to lose a **** ton of money regardless. It seems these cars depreciate more as the days go by. Seeing as the car is not the best example of a 996 you can find (but it does have potential) I don't know what to ask. I guess you could say I'm open to reasonable offers.
UFO your car sounds like a great opportunity for someone who doesn't mind squeaks and would appreciate the suspension mods!
Too bad us buyers all have to be so damn picky
My biggest downfall is that I'm too honest. I could put this car on eBay, hide the faults, and get what I want but I won't do that. I'll point out the slightest faults that you may never find just because I don't want someone feeling the same way about me as I do about the ****** who sold me the car. All my friends tell me I'm stupid and that the car is fine as is. I guess I just have very high standards.
P.S. She doesn't squeak anymore. I guess the lube finally found its way into the places it needed to go. Of course, I'll point out the fact that it DID squeak to any potential buyer.
I'm local; if you want to look then there's no pressure. If you've never driven a 996 and want to get the feel for one then I'd probably let you take a test drive, regardless of whether you plan to buy or not.
Haha, I'm a computer geek and work with the other lemmings downtown. The sig is a joke as I owned the car for a little over a month before the engine went bye bye and the only way it would move was on the back of a tow truck. It spent almost as much time on the back of a truck as it had on the road.
No need to apologise: you're not the first to make that mistake
. Yeah, it has power memory seats, plush gray leather (really nothing plush about it IMHO), Technic package with Litronic lights, 18" turbo twist wheels and stock 17" wheels. Also has Schnell air intake, lowered suspension with GT3 sway bar, Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers and B&M SSK.
