This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

The dealer wants about $300 to fix and with the DYI I found here, I fixed it myself for free( I already had the Si sealant)!!!

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got the call from my local dealer... as if the $1200 bill for 30k service wasn't enough, and the $500+ for the part that adjusts the window down and up when opening the door... now they are telling me the steering wheel bushings are failing. Found plastic on the floor. $1200. It's a 2003 C2, 28k miles. I have already had it in for numerous warranty issues. Now that it's out of warranty, this is wearing very thin. So here is my question: Should I see if I can find a local (ATL) euro shop to quote the repair? Should I suck it up and have Porshce do it? Does it involve removing the steering wheel? If so, I'll have Porsche do it. I was just about to start dumping some cash in on NAV/Stereo, intake, etc... now I don't think I can justify the cost. Any advice would be appreciated. Pat (bummed)

POST 2Original post

Did they give you the part number(s) of the part(s) needing replacement?

POST 5Original post

As then what part(s) need replacing. The only part (other than a option steering wheel) that is close to $2000 is the the whole lower steering column at $1800. Something does not sound right here...

POST 6Original post

You may want to look around at the DYI's for various steering wheel issues. I had the horn blowing for no reason issue. The dealer wants about $300 to fix and with the DYI I found here, I fixed it myself for free( I already had the Si sealant)!!! Took 2 hours 1 hour and 45 minutes of that was waiting on the sealant to dry!

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, everything seems to be working fine and they said I could just take it easy on it when adjusting the wheel. I think I will just let it be for now. Thanks for the input.

POST 8Original post

Pat, please don't tell me you took the car to Jim Ellis or Hennessy. Those guys will rape you. PM me if you need a couple of recommendations for some Atlanta shops. There is a great one on the top end of the parameter. C.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, Chad. Got the info on the other thread I started. Yea, I did. Jim Ellis socked my Mastercard for over $2000 after I got the service, window fixed and a dent popped out. So here's another question - I need a new windshield, any recommendations?
