Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I Googled "Brake Clean" and all I get is "Clean BreaK" with unrelated stuff.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Since my C4S has been stored, I noticed rust on the Disk breaks;
usually I see light rust after washing the car, but this type looks like
it is biting really hard and thick on the disks.
Since I want to be easy on the calipers and disks, I wonder if you know of any spray
that can be used before driving it. I would like to avoid heavy scratching and grinding
with the break pads.
Please don't say DD40!
John
John,
Just drive it! Apply the brakes qently at first to get some of the rust off then a little harder to get the rotors completely free of rust. It should take only one braking session to remove the rust. Then, after the car is completely warmed up, drive it like you stole it!
Happens every time I wash the car. Next day, when I start to back out of the garage, they stick just briefly, and there's a little pop as they break loose, then there's a grinding sound as the surface rust is being rubbed off by the calipers....looks terrible but is a no biggie.
You could paint the top hat of your rotor though and that will improve the look.

At the time I thought he was crazy and had too much time on his hands, but I now have it on my to-do list.
I now know that he's crazy, but it's for entirely different reasons.
Wellard:
I actually recently painted mine (Black) and they look great. I actually used the "Brake Caliper Paint" sold at Auto Zone.
I think the Black "Top Hat" makes the car look new again. Of course it's more to clean as if the Black exterior was not enough, LOL.

Interesting. I've not seen black before. I have some silver paint that I'm looking to apply as soon as I can get some days that are warm enough to paint.
Thanks guys.
I was never concerned with light rust when I wash it.
However I thought that after a few weeks, instead of minutes, it is not so light anymore,
it looks deeper and thicker (BTW that's what she said last night).
I have an old can of carb cleaner; it evaporates very quickly, and it might soften
the rust a little, before the break pads shine it back up.
John
John,
pretty much any auto parts store has the stuff.
Here's a link to what I use and I get it from Kragen's:

Wayne, I remember someone doing black on their top hats, but they also had black wheels. It look pretty good. But with silver wheels, the top hats need to be silver, IMO.
I was recently getting some oscillating type noise under braking and figured it was some sort of buildup. Either on the rotors or between the rotors and pads. I did some controlled but hard stops like I was bedding in new pads and it seems to have taken care of it.
