Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Generally it is good practice to after engine work that sees the engine partially disassembled, if the engine's internals are exposed ,even if only a camshaft cover removed, to afterwards change the oil/filter just to catch/remove the junk that might find its way into the oil.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I changed my oil in my 1999 - 996 and found some pieces of liquid gasket sealer in the oil filter. The PO had a few areas resealed and the liquid gasket material is from small particles inside breaking off -- ooze. I do not have any leaks etc. no issues just concerned. Where do I get my oil tested --- or should say analyzed.??? Thanks, Chuck 951

are curious. I did it once and that was that. Generally it is good practice to after engine work that sees the engine partially disassembled, if the engine's internals are exposed ,even if only a camshaft cover removed, to afterwards change the oil/filter just to catch/remove the junk that might find its way into the oil. As for the analysis, my advice would be to save your money and apply it to next oil/filter service. Sincerely, Macster.
