BTW, the car was a Blue 99 C2 with 62K miles, base model for the most part, no problems, clean inside and out except for one coffee stain.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in the process of selling my modded 930, and thought I'd move foreward 25 years or so... Thus, I'm looking at 996's. Budget, preferences, etc. I'm leaning towards higher mile (50k+) 99 Coupes. Minimum options. I'd pay for a PSE, maybe. Two Questions: [1] Is there a price cycle? i.e. best time to buy is in the late fall/early winter as 'the summer boys' are unloading their toys and N. E. dealers don't want to get stuck with a sports car for the winter. [2] What range are these cars selling (not asking) for at the moment and any predictions on what that range may be in the Fall/Winter, if any. Thank you in advance P.S. The car will be a semi-daily driver.

POST 2Original post

Not sure about cycle, but I got mine this time last year off ebay. I got it for $33.6K and at the time it had an edmunds "trade-in" value of $35K. That edmunds value was based on "average" condition which knocks $3K off the price. No one besides me bid on it. I'd guess that mid summer is pretty slow time to sell, so might be a good time to buy. BTW, the car was a Blue 99 C2 with 62K miles, base model for the most part, no problems, clean inside and out except for one coffee stain.

POST 4Original post

One of the rennlisters from Pasadena posted a really good buy on a 99 blue coupe with late model wheels for $40,000 with 45,000 miles just last week. I reccommend you look for this car on autotrader at zip code 91106. It had lots of mods, new tires, etc. Cheapest prices are from October to early, early March. I just sold and bought. I had my 93 advertized from Sep thru March when it finally sold. I think west coast prices have firmed a bit since April.

POST 5Original post

i'm selling my '00 6-spd c2 coupe for under $40k. send a pm for details.

POST 6Original post

Lomo, 99 with 20k miles, Speed Yellow six speed, asking $37,900...here's the link. He's a rennlister, TX996 https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hreadid=144216

POST 8Original post

They've definitely dropped into the 30's. I paid 41.5k for my '99 in May, but it was loaded to the bejeebers and had low mileage. I think you'll really like the 996. My last Porsche was an '86 turbo cab, triple black. The thing was very squirrelly compared to these newer gen P-cars. The manners of the 996 make it much more of a joy to drive than the earlier years. Good hunting!

POST 9Original post

I just saw a 99 C2 with 65,000 miles sold for $31,000. I would check with ebay and autotrader for the best deals.

POST 10Original post

I guy I know bought a 99 c2, 68K miles for $30K at the beginning of the summer. Minimal options, but lowered suspension, new tires and 18" wheels. No accidents. This was from a lexus dealer. Another friend bought almost my identical car 99 C4 with 50K miles, near perfect condition with a few options (Power seats, 18", cd changer) for $37.5 in the spring. No accidents. This was a consignment car and a respected upper tier used dealer. If you are willing to buy one with a few miles, the world is your oyster and this should be a GREAT time to buy. For the record, I have a 99 C4, some options, about 50K miles now and really no problems to speak of. Good luck!

POST 13Original post

I'm curious, being a fairly new introducee to the world of porsche, (1) how much did everyone pay for their cars (years/model), and (2) what does everyone do? (i.e., occupation) if you're willing to share it. How much should on expect to pay for a 99 C2 with under 27k miles (base model)? what about one with an aero kit, 19" rims, under 27k miles, and a carbon fiber hood? I guess pricing will vary depending on the market, and I know that Atlanta's market (where I'm at) is really a seller's market (whereas it seems Texas and Florida are buyer's markets). Just curious... thanks all.
