Disconnected the battery for about 2 hours, car runs great, but cold start hesitates momentarily but once cold start sequence is done, it idles fine.

Replaced ripped oil filter tube, car now misfires.

Suggestion

If no other vac leaks, disconnect the battery for a few minutes for a reset, Let the car relearn by leaving key in 'on position' for a minuter or 2 before starting it.

Battery was disconnected so that the alternator could be moved to make the install easier, so Im not sure if its a relearning thing I dont remember bumping or disconnecting anything except the coolant line attached to that bracket that usually breaks lol will double check the filler tube though Its pretty hard to not install the antidote correctly though with the way the O-rings are and the way its assembled But who knows.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Noticed car was acting erratically with hesitations here and there, found there was a vacuum leak/rip at the oil filler bellow. Replaced it, now the car has a hard time starting when cold. Car will crank, turnover, then stall. Try again, same thing except it runs for 1-2 seconds before stalling. 3rd try Ill give it some throttle to get the RPMs up and it hesitates but will stay running with some throttle. If I go to pull away from the parking spot it sputters and hesitates. Heres the weird thing though, once the thermostat gets to around 100 the car runs MINT. No throttle hesitations, warm and hot starts fine. All issues are only cold starting. It just does not like cold starting. No vacuum leaks anywhere else (smoke tested). Car is bone stock 2004 Carrera. Oil filler tube was replaced with with an LN The Antidote filler tube. Thanks in advance for any help.

Might want to double check for any other vacuum leaks and double check your work on filler tube. If no other vac leaks, disconnect the battery for a few minutes for a reset, Let the car relearn by leaving key in 'on position' for a minuter or 2 before starting it. See if that helps...

POST 4Original post

Also if it is an early car before 2002, did you reconnect the idle regulator? Smoke test, you have a vacuum leak most probably

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 20570520

What does this do, or not do?

POST 6Original post

Did you smoke test the crank case (not the intake manifold) ?

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 20570855

It is a solid filler tube with no bellow component. It sits upright and doesn't sit in the air filter spot. I have it with a track drain to the UAOS. The maker is 9ii.pro

POST 9Original post

Did you get the antidote with the drain pipe for use with UAOS or the plain one. If the one with the drain, is/was it properly sealed? Funny thing is, if the car ran fine before (with the leak from old oil filler bellow) but runs poorly with a fully sealed system, then a, it should run well again with the oil filler cap removed (or at least allowing air to go through. did you try that? and b, the dme has been compensating and needs to be reset (battery disconnected)

POST 10Original post

Two thoughts - you must have introduced a new vacuum leak. This could be from a defective filler tube or maybe incorrect seating, or a new crack. Smoke test will be your friend. The second thought is you forgot to plug something back in. I know I have done work before where I removed the air box and the car ran rough only to discover I forgot to plug the MAF connector in.

POST 11Original post

One time when I did this, I accidentally knocked the vacuum tube loose from the front plenum. It just slides up into the rubber fitting that connects the front plenum to the intake manifold. Real simple to knock loose, real simple to miss.

POST 12Original post

You know, come to think of it, when my MAF was improperly plugged in, I had the same, car just wouldn't run right like you described. Check it!

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source posts: 20571337, 20572936, 20573007

I got the plain one as I dont have the UAOS. Disconnected the battery for about 2 hours, car runs great, but cold start hesitates momentarily but once cold start sequence is done, it idles fine. I havent tried having it run with the oil cap off I know without the MAF plugged in the ABS and PASM lights come on. MAF is definitely in. Heres a weird thing that happened though, I left it unplugged by accident when I double checked things again, the cold start was normal/good and but those lights came on so I know I forgot to plug the MAF in. Bad MAF since the cold start and idle is smooth with it unplugged??? . Triple checked thatthats plugged in. Smoke check and cant find anythingis that rough cold start possibly a bad MAF? When I forgot to plug it in, it idled better unplugged.

POST 14Original post

When MAF is not connected, car is running is safe mode, fails emissions but runs better than otherwise. ABS/PSM should have nothing to do with the MAF. you need PIWIS to see exactly what your problems are. Brakes use vacuum to multiply the braking force and a problem there may illuminate the ABS light.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 20578340

yes but no. The 996 will through phantom abs/psm codes with a bad maf. U do think u need a scanner that can read the outputs if the maf.

POST 16Original post

Do you check the tiny 2-3mm black vacuum lines, one of them could have broken? Or possibly disconnected from the front intake crossover tube?
