Poor Jean even went to the tech session we had last year at our local dealer where we were shown the new tools to test the crank and install the seal deeper.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

everyone's gone stark raving looney tunes. This week I have seen some of the most bizare threads....bright red interiors with yellow bits and even a green interior! Then there's a guy with silver shoes and pink nails; how many shots of NOS to blow up my engine do I need, can I cut off my roof for a T-Top; a pet seat for my 911! Bring back the RMS threads...please.......

POST 3Original post

That is funny. Porsche finally fixed the issue. That is why it is a dead issue. On of our local guys, Jean, with a 2000 2.7 Boxster had 4 seal replacements. Three weeks ago Porsche replaced the engine, out of warranty. That is the good news. Poor Jean even went to the tech session we had last year at our local dealer where we were shown the new tools to test the crank and install the seal deeper. Ooops. His last 2 seal replacements were done with the new tools. Ooops. The measuring mandrel fit each time it was used. So much for that tool - they measure the old way. Jean then bought a jack and I think every day he looks under the car for oil. In fact, I know he does because he emails me pictures of oil. And when we have a local work on cars day he makes me crawl under his car. With his 3 week old replacement engine Jean noticed a vibration at about 3,000 rpms. I did not drive his car because we met at a local car show, but when I listened to it something did not sound right. So I told him to take it back to our local dealer. First mechanic said it was normal. So I told Jean to have Peter in the same shop look at it. The filter was pulled and it was loaded with metal. So the good news is. The 800 mile engine put in 3 weeks ago did not leak. And Jean's 3rd engine goes in today.

That's funny too. 4 seals, 3 engines and all is well Hey Jeff, have you been keeping an eye on the pcgb thread?

POST 5Original post

Tool Pants told you about the PCGB survey and that is how you found it. I am on a few UK boards so I know what is going on. I do not post on PCGB because you need to be a member just to see the messages. Some people long ago gave me their login info so I can read the messages but I do not post there since it would not be under my name. So I watch and read from time to time. I give the Boxster section 100% credit for doing something with PAG as weak as it is. I give the 996 section zero for not participating. I already know the result. Porsche loves its customers, they might admit a problem, and they take care of everyone.
