Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also, just to double-check, the correct belt length for my 3.6L engine is 6PK2260, correct?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Was looking at the parts catalog, which to me suggested the 997 variants didn't work for tip (M249 is Tip, M480 is 6-speed).
Hi everyone, I am about to perform a major belt service on my 2002 Porsche 911 (996.2) Carrera with the 3.6L engine (320 hp). While cross-referencing parts, I came across the following updated part numbers for the idler and tensioner pulleys:
996-102-117-57 (Tensioner Pulley - Grooved)
996-102-118-56 (Upper Idler / Deflection Roller - Smooth)
996-102-119-58 (Lower Idler / Deflection Roller - Smooth)
Can anyone confirm if these are the absolute correct, latest updated part numbers for the 3.6L M96.03 engine? I want to make sure they fit the 3.6L and aren't specific only to the older 3.4L Mk1. Also, just to double-check, the correct belt length for my 3.6L engine is 6PK2260, correct? Am I missing any other part for the belt pulley service?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Looks correct to me if you have a tip. If manual, latest are some 997 parts:
997-102-117-00
997-102-118-00
997-102-119-00
FWIW, these were the latest part numbers from my OPC when updating the rollers last year.
The new 997 parts are good for manual or tip.
They are the revised 997 ones which are plastic pulleys. Some people prefer the metal. On mine I like the lower mass plastic.
All three pulleys are the same. Just different hardware.
I have the same question. I think continental codes : CONTITECH 6 PK 1928, CONTITECH 6 PK 1929, CONTITECH 6 PK 1930, CONTITECH 6 PK 1931, CONTITECH 6 PK 1932 should be ok. If anyone can chime in
Got this kit from Pelican a couple years ago for my .2 tip. All metal, all new hardware all fit perfectly, nice and quite. Iirr, the belt was a conti. Might have to call to order it as it wasn't listed then as a kit/price
just a tip... Before you do this job marinate the belt spring tensor shaft bushing liberally with WD-40. Then when apart, make sure too work the shaft up&down with wd40 to get full range on tensor arm...
Continental serp belt codes are easy to figure out.
The first number (6) is the number of ribs on the belt.
PK is the belt width and means ribs on one side only. PKK is ribs on both sides as I recall.
The next 4 numbers are the belt length in mm.
The 4 part numbers listed are within 4mm of each other and should be fine.
Was looking at the parts catalog, which to me suggested the 997 variants didn't work for tip (M249 is Tip, M480 is 6-speed). Though based on other responses seems to be no difference (which makes more intuitive sense to me).
