Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have been hearing a lot lately about HD radio and would like to get it for my 02. Unfortunately, with the Bose system this sounds difficult to impossible. Anyone explored this yet? Thanks

POST 2Original post

What the heck is HD radio? Is that comparable to XM or Sirius in terms of sound quality except it's free? I'm sooo old school that I'm still listening to FM.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Free CD quality radio from your existing stations. Only available in a few markets right now as I understand it. But coming to everyone.

POST 4Original post

I think your best bet would be to get a new aftermarket head unit that has HD radio support built in. Unfortunately, with the MOST bus you're looking at quite a bit of work. You're pretty much in the same boat as those people who want to integrate their iPod. If you're able to find an HD radio tuner (sort of like the XM Roadie) then a Becker aux-in cable would work. Using an FM modulator would be kind of dumb because then you'd be degrading the HD radio signal down to crappy FM quality.

POST 5Original post

Steve -- FYI...02 is the last pre-MOST year. Changing out the head unit is the most logical path and, being pre-MOST, is a very managable task. Good luck!

POST 6Original post

If you have the Bose system doesn't the amp/speaker package pose a problem for a new head unit?
