I've been asked whether the flat metal center caps (928/993) will fit on the 17" sports classic wheels for a 98 996. Anyone know? The flat metal center caps have the ring-type mount, the existing caps on the wheels are plastic and have the prongs. Question is being asked by a guy in NZ; I'm in CA, so can't just run over and check. Here are the caps I'm inquiring about :

Take one of those center caps to a local dealer or mechanic and maybe there will be a car there with the 17" that you can try it on?....

I have the 928 type painted metal center caps on my 2001 911 wiht standard 17" wheels they fit fine. They don't have the holes in them like the ones seen in your photos. I believe all 996 wheels use the same center caps. I've also been told that 993 center caps fit 996's. You could call Wheel Enhancement in CA and ask them since they sell center caps, etc.
