i tend to run the car quite hard - i don't have calipers to measure rotor thickness, so is there another way to tell when rotors need to be changed?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is all based on about 8 events a year, assuming each event being 2 days, (4) 20-25 min per day, so about 3-4 hrs track time per weekend. (2) oil changes per season = every 15 track hrs or so (2) sets of brake pads (1.5) sets of rotors (average) (1.5) sets of tires (street tires only, no R's) (2) brake fluid flushes am i missing something? should i be flushing coolant or changing transmission fluid? power steering fluid?

POST 3Original post

Rotors on a 996 after just 8 track events??? I have done about 10-12 events this last season and the only thing I had was pads. Of course I changed out the oil and brake fluid as well. Your rotors should last much longer than that.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i guess my braking style needs more work then? i tend to run the car quite hard - i don't have calipers to measure rotor thickness, so is there another way to tell when rotors need to be changed? there is already a good sized lip on the rotors, but i'm sure i can still get at least one more event out of them.
