Because when I installed the RoW030 I was able to compress the rear with one hand and the front with both hands.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have located a good set of pss9 for sale but hard to tell if it will fit my 2003 C2. the sellers tells me the model number on the shocks is F4-VM3-5252-H0, but he is the son of the owner and those apparently were never installed and are kind of sitting in the garage, so I am a bit worried if the kit is complete and good for my car. can anybody confirm based on the pics, which kit is it ? Phil

POST 2Original post

Hey Phil For some reason I knew you were in the hunt for a set I checked the part numbers and seems this is the part of the REAR Just as reference here are my part numbers for my C2 Front - F4-BM5-6804-H1 Rear - F4-VM3-5252-H1 The instruction says for Porsche C2

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hum those being the -H0 at the end, I wonder what they are... they look like they are a fit for the 996... I hope someone can help

POST 4Original post

You need to get the numbers for the fronts. The rears for C2's and C4's are the same but the fronts are different. Also the shocks may be shared with different models while the springs are different.

POST 5Original post

Just call bilstein. They have great customer support. -td

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok so now I have a little more info Front shocks: F4-BM5-6803-HO Rear shocks: F4-VM3-5252-H0 The tallest springs are E4-FD1-Y518 A00 The next size down springs are E4-FD1-Y623 A00 And the smallest springs are F4-FD1-Y504 A01 I'll call bilstein on monday

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

argh I called Bilstein and the kit is too old and they could not verify the front shocks number. I can buy this kit for $500, I wonder if I should give it a shot just based on the look of the parts I am tempted opinions ?

POST 8Original post

Phil I did some research on this part # online and does not say anything about fitting other models other than a 996. Not sure if this will fit a C2 MKII. For $500 I think its a SUPER bargain. From pics I don't see it missing any parts (I will compare to what the set I just purchased and have not installed yet). If it does not fit you can easily sell them on Ebay for even more for the right car I say go for it man!

POST 9Original post

I have a TUV report for the PSS9 for the 996C2 from 2002 and the front shocks are VM3-5252 and the rear shocks are BM5-6803

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks Gert, that is a very good news ! I think that I'm gonna make the jump and see what happens

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

question, how do I inspect those things when I get them ? I mean is there a way to move them around or something that will give me an idea if they are any good or if they need to be sent to bilstein for some refreshing ?

POST 12Original post

Nice of Gert to chime in.Since they look brand new and unused, why are you worried about their functioning, unless age is an issue?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes just because they must have been sitting on a shelf for years. So I assume like all things they age over time, even when they don't get used.

POST 14Original post

For the money you can not go wrong. Pick them up and enjoy!

POST 15Original post

Shock dyno for testing. Bilstein will refresh (revalve) for ~$65 each. -td

POST 17Original post

The PSS10's I have came with a lifetime guaranty. Maybe Bilstein will rebuild them for free. Attached are the specs for the PSS10's for a Turbo, for a C4 and the PSS9 specs for a C4. Unfortunately I don't have them for a C2. I found these on-line in 2010 but when I go to the site now I can find them again or the C2 specs. The specs list the part number for each component and may help you identify the set you have. Wish I had gotten them for the C2 when I got these.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I decided to buy them, so we'll know soon if they fit now it is time for me to decide if I want to do at the same time some more upgrade to get more negative camber : - camber plate with monoball (gt3 or tarett or rennline) - lower control arm (gt3 or gmg) - monoball bushing I am doing the upgrade to have the car a little bit more track friendly so... Hoping that I will not be getting the dreaded PSS grinding noise that some other have experienced. Anyways after two suspension install within a year it shoudl be easy to take them in and out..hopefully

POST 19Original post

If you start making the other upgrades give me a call. We carry a Full line of TRG components, OEM parts, PMNA parts as well several of our own suspension parts. While offering discounted pricing to all Rennlist members.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok I got the set Today I inspected the part and while I was able to compress the rear, with a lot of force I have to say, I could not make the front shock compress one millimeter even with my considerable weight Is that normal ? Because when I installed the RoW030 I was able to compress the rear with one hand and the front with both hands. mucchhhhh softer Are the pss9 that much stiffer ? As it seems they have never been installed, I want to check as much as possible that they are at least functional

POST 21Original post

Congrats on the new legs for the ride. The shocks will be much stiffer then the RoW030 units.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW if anyone has the PSS9 manual, I am interested ok, I am on my way to start the rennlist search for any PSS9 install documents...

POST 23Original post

Just had a used set of PSS9's installed on my '99 along with all new Elephant Racing bushings. Stunning difference. You will love them when you are finished.

POST 24Original post

Let me look around but everything is in boxes. If I find it, I will scan and email it to you.

POST 25Original post

Found this online at http://www.truckspring.com/suspensio.../bilstein.aspx ...look at the Product Overview tab and you can download the instructions. They are the PSS10 but the install should be the same.

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks do much Chao ! that is very much appreciated !!

POST 29Original post

Be careful to notice exactly what parts are re-used from your old struts. It is MUCH clearer on the PSS10 vs the PSS9 manual (exact same parts re-used). I went ahead and got new upper strut mounts (I'll find the part numbers) and I had a post around somewhere of the part number and small cost of additional blue washers which prevent windup and spring back noise. You should be able to compress all of them, BTW, though it takes some effort.

POST 30Original post

Has anyone the TUV report for this kit? I have the installation instructions (11 pages) that came in the box, but there is no TUV for homologation. PSS9 for the 996C2 from 2002. The front shocks are VM3-5252 and the rear shocks are BM5-6803. The Bilstein kit part# is F4-GM5-8846-H0 I would be very grateful if you could send me this TUV report in PDF or so. PD. I have found PSS10 (GM5-D534) installation instructions pdf and there is TUV homologation in it, but not in mine (GM5-8846)... please help!
