Also, can you still use the Porsche SS engine skid plate with this, which is even more needed with the lower pan?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We are very pleased to introduce our FVD Motorsort Oil Pan for the 996
We will be offering this oil pan for $ 446.00 until February 15th, 2013.
That is a savings of $ 148.75 (25% off) of our current $ 595.00 retail.
Here are more details about our latest offering:
Scavenging and aeration in the oil pan have been identified as a problem in the 996, 997 and Boxster models that experience high G-forces on the racetrack.
The FVD Motorsport oil pan encorporates the baffling concept of the X51 oil pan and also increases the oil capacity. This pan adds close to 3/4 of quart (0.6 Liters) of oil over the original X51 pan. This allows for increased oil cooling and engine performance by preventing oil starvation and oil foaming. The FVD Motorsport oil pan is also designed with external cooling fins which helps to lower the oil temperature.
It works on the following models: 986 & 987.1 Boxster/S, 987.1 Cayman/S, 996 and 997 models (excludes GT3 and turbocharged models).

Yes, we do provide the extension. 2300cc is correct, it is shown in the first picture on the bottom right. We also provide longer bolts for the extension.
Why are the ported windows cut so high off the bottom of the pan? On all other offerings similar to this, they make a point of enlarging the passage ways much closer to the bottom of the pan, to aid in stavation prevention. Yours look to sit 3/4" up. I like the one piece pan , very nice. Also, can you still use the Porsche SS engine skid plate with this, which is even more needed with the lower pan?
The X51 style ported windows are specifically designed that way in order to keep as much oil as possible inside the center section where the pick up is. So when you are experiencing high lateral G's the most amount of oil is "trapped" inside the center and the black baffles keep it there.
I can't comment on the other offerings, but if you had much larger passage ways closer to the bottom of the pan the oil would be able to build up on the right and left outer sides of the pan under lateral g's. That would be further from the pick up and "starvation" will ensue.
We will have our own skid plate which will accommodate our oil pan within a few months time.
I'd be curious to see how much it sticks out from the car once installed, especially on lowered cars.
Looks like an additional 1 inch, from the original pan, but that is really the information I missed to make an order. Went with regular x51 instead.
