Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Yes - get linkage adjusted/lubed - hopefully that fixes your reverse issue.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust /lubed - hopefully' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust /lubed - hopefully' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I waited for about 30 seconds or a minute and tried again and this time it worked.
I have been reading a lot on here over the last several months and always appreciate insight from fellow porsche owners. This is my first time posting and would appreciate any insight you all can provide. The other day I went on a short drive of about 15 minutes and when I went to park the vehicle it didn't want to go into reverse. The gear shift stick went into reverse but it didn't seem to catch and the vehicle wouldn't move. I waited for about 30 seconds or a minute and tried again and this time it worked. I need to get the serpentine belt replaced and was looking at having the indy shop look at the transmission as I think it is just a shifter cable issue. I was wondering if any one out there has experienced this and if so what was the problem. Thanks.
Welcome to Rennlist and better post a pic or two of your car before the photo cops bust you
Sometimes it's just the cables knocked out of their brackets on the transmission. Have to check under the car where the cables is attached. Of course it's also possible the shifter is worn out, which creates more free play. That you have to remove the center console to check (just follow the B&M short shifter installation instruction). Good luck.
One heck of a first post.
Sorry to hear this. It could be the syncros, but I would first inspect the linkage below the shifter and ensure it is properly centered.
Follow B&M's short shifter install on how to get to it and adjust the two connectors. You may want to get the centering tool since it's less than $10.
Check the linkage connectors at the transmission to make sure that they are on tight.
Also, the shifter has a plastic piece that's prone to break, I think Sharkwerks has a metal piece to replace it.
Yes - get linkage adjusted/lubed - hopefully that fixes your reverse issue. But I'd also change the fluid for Porsche Fluid (or Lubro moly) if fit wasn't done at 45K service. At ~10 years still stuff is pretty old - ti si cheap to replace - and made a noticeable difference in my trans.....
