Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, been using mye 911 996 as a daily driver for some time, all is usually good, suddenly 1 week ago aprox, I got in the car, pressed clutch pedal etc, turned key to start... nothing. So far I've tried clutch switch, it works as it should, tried it both with a multimeter, also connected the leads together just to be sure, still no start. battery has good voltage and is 3 months old, ign key switches of fans etc when it goes to start mode, but keeps rest of eletronics on as it should. my thoughts are basicly bad ign switch?(my old boxster had this, but then it spun around, so easy to diagnose) bad starter relay, internally in starter. Some electronics malfuction. alarm maybe? I tried both keys, they both open/close the car fine, and alarm light turns off as it should

POST 2Original post

You need to test whether or not you have voltage to the starter in the start position when the key is turned to start the car. I would guess that you have either a bad relay or the ignition switch is bad. Have someone sit in car while you use a test light down at the starter. When they turn the key to try and start the car you observe whether or not you have voltage at the starter coming from the switch.
