If they were the conventional style o rings from the Mk1, I would have done them when I changed the plugs.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I changed my plugs a few months ago, 1 of the plugs on the passenger side bank hand oil on it. I have been using a bit of oil, (not much) and every time I start the car thatt exhaust lets out some smoke. The orings on the MK2s are accessed by removing the valve covers. Anyone ever done this? Anybody think it will be covered under CPO?

POST 2Original post

I seriously doubt that is causing you smoke on start up. Oil would have to enter the combustion chamber, not leak on the outside of the spark plug Oil leak is an oil leak, if CPO covers oil leaks and it is leaking, it should be covered

POST 3Original post

Concerning "accessed by removing the valve covers". DON'T Special tools for locking down the cams or you just mess thing up.

No worries. I have no intention of doing this myself. If they were the conventional style o rings from the Mk1, I would have done them when I changed the plugs. I do all the regular maintinence stuff including brakes but I'm gonna see what the dealer has to say. I am really curious if this will be covered under the CPO since it really isn't a maintinence item.

POST 5Original post

I have the CPO exlusions list that I need to post. Out of town now, but can do it over the weekend.
