Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry for the huge picture!!!! I've got a 2002 996 Carrera with the 3.6L engine. I had to replace the oil filler tube and I broke this fitting. Does anyone have a part number for it? Thanks!
Get one of these and never worry about breakage again, very common to happen.
Porsche 996, 997 Upgrade Connection For Coolant Hose To Oil Separator - Rauch and Spiegel
Breaking this fitting is a rite of passage for 996 owners. You can use a double ended barbed fitting to connect the hoses and zip tie while you wait for the replacement if you need to get back on the road.
It is recommended that you buy the part before you need it and have it when it does break. It sucks to break it off working on something else and then have to overnight the part.
That fitting is so fragile if you look at it wrong it will break. When it goes you are stranded. I recommend proactive replacement. Easy to do when the engine is cold. You won't lose much coolant. Definitely get the RS metal fitting.
Thanks, my goal has been to make this as “bulletproof” as can be reasonably expected. A $50 part that that is a know weak spot seems like a good place to invest a little time and $. UAOS is being installed soon, I guess I could have the installer do this at the same time with little effort on his part?
