I remember being surprised to see the sport design wheels on the car and didn't know which bumper was installed on it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's a long drive for me, but I'm thinking of taking the drive up there.
https://rennlist.com/forums/east-us-...northeast.html
I've done so few miles in my p-car this year due to the bad weather that unless I get out and burn up some miles I'll start looking like Phil.
Oh it's true - I'm not happy with how few miles I've done this year.... a drive up to CT and back would nicely add a few miles. I've also got a business trip to MA next week and I'm considering driving the car up there.
Well, I got my car cleaned up, so as long as I can get the wife and kids organized in time I'll be there.
Phil, you should join us - the drive in the TT would be fun.
We could, but I'm not sure where. Any ideas?
We'll be coming onto 95 from 287. My plan (pending cooperation from my wife and kids) is to leave here around 7:45am - that should get us to the restaurant around 10:15am.
Thanks!
We had a great time - the people up there were very welcoming and the cars were wonderful. It's the first time we've driven 2 hours for brunch, but it was worth it.
I was particularly impressed with the red 914 that is partly shown in the first photo - that car was in immaculate condition... it could only have been cleaner if Phil had owned it all it's life. I've always loved the 914 - this one looked like it had just rolled off of the production line.
Thanks!
The silver car in my post #23 is the same car - a C4S cab. Sadly I couldn't get a side shot of it, as there was another car parked at the side of it.
Yeah, I know. It's hard to believe that my son is going to be 4 years old in a couple of weeks. Pretty scary and I don't know where all the time is going.
It was good to see you - sorry that we didn't get to spend more time together - after we saw you we had to head inside as the kids decided they were hungry.
I was impressed that the kids handled the long drive (both directions) as well as they did, although that was probably pushing the limits of their tolerance for a drive.
Yeah, it would have been good to see you! Oh well, maybe some other time. We'll get to meet each other at some point.
Sorry Phil, I did see him drive it in. It looked and sounded great. I didn't check the miles on the car, but it was certainly driven.
There were some really nice cars in attendance. It was nice to see a different set of Porsches to the ones that you see locally.
WOW - that last pic of the really dark green color - with the MKI rear bumper and 40th edition badge is really a nice color, any other pics of that one?
More pics from our little group. I should've noted your license plate matching your screen name here....would've introduced myself. Glad you had a nice day with your family. It was a beautiful day.
^^^ nice pics Boxtaboy
Ed... that would be my car. Its a Millenium Edition car, paint is called violetchromaflair... depending on how the light hits, it can be green, gold, violet, charcoal, and of course black. The Mill Ed and the 40th came with the 911 badge.
Hi Ferd,
Thanks for letting me know about this meet in my backyard. I was driving back from DC when you texted about it late Sat night.
Did you enjoy letting the car stretch its legs on the Merritt Parkway?
Merrit is a fun road, no five O in sight!... I used to drive the merrit in my supra when I commuted to Boston back in the day... with the fall colors... fugedabotit.
<mouth open>
WOW - I always knew I liked your car, but I dont think I ever saw it in those lighing conditions! Beautiful!!!! - those seats rock, is that natural brown? I love the color combo
Thanks Ferd!
What a beautiful day! It was nice seeing you Chao and Ferd. Fly, Wayne, I think I just missed both of you (late start).
I have some pics of the 356s that I will post tonight assuming applecare comes through.
And man oh man the Merritt
Nice photos!
Sorry that I missed you Hans - I saw your car in the parking lot, but noone was around. I'm guessing that by the time we finished brunch you were inside eating lunch.
We were one of the two families in the far corner with kids... My kids are very well behaved, but we've found that it's often best to let people enjoy kids from a distance.
Nice photos. I totally missed this, wish I paid better attention. Not sure I would have made it in time anyway as I had a wedding I was driving home from.
I saw yours in the lot when I was coming in (and made a note to myself that a white Mk1 Aero with lamp covers is really distinctive even in a parking lot full of fancy new hardware!), but by the time I meandered inside, ordered food and asked Chao where you were, you guys must have already left. Hooters?

Nice photos!
It's funny, I still love my car, even when surrounded by newer ones - It has character and IMHO looks great. Doesn't mean I didn't drool over the GT3RS though.
As for timing - well, the joy of bringing the kids along, as that you roll to their schedule - we ate because they were hungry, then we left because they were getting cranky... the joys of parenthood.
Having said that, my son loved seeing all the Porsches and everyone had fun.
Hi Hans, Wayne
Sorry I missed you guys (my kids where getting cranky so we only stayed for a short while). Ferd, Chao good seeing you again as always. I saw all of your rides and they where proudly representing the brand. Nice job!
Yeah I really like the look. Yours, Ferd's and Chaos are all very fine of examples of that particular vintage and have aged extremely well. That they can be enjoyed regularly is testament to the reliability of the 996. I noticed only one 993 in the lot when I was there, seems they are getting old enough that the best examples are being hoarded in garages, even one of my buddies who used to own a 993 until 2003 admitted as much.
Another car that looked surprisingly good was that black aero 986 boxster on the 18" carrera sport design wheels. It was slammed but it really looked sharp, I should have taken a snapshot. Obviously the GT3 RS was nice, but remind me to post pics from Rick Deman's shop if you like the racy looks.
As for the kids, I'm impressed that you got them up and out for such a long drive on a saturday at all! Some of my best memories as a kid are of car shows and days like this with my dad and brother.
I think I saw you and your family in the parking lot on the way out then!
I hope we all get one more (mid morning or later) event in before the seasons change!
Thanks - I agree. One of my favorite sets of photos is when we had the three of those cars parked together on our last drive.
I remember the Boxster you're referring to and didn't realize it was an aero - I've never seen one before. I remember being surprised to see the sport design wheels on the car and didn't know which bumper was installed on it.
As for the kids - they're pretty good in tolerating my car events. I've dragged them all over the place this summer and they've done great. There actually some hope that I can start hosting drives again soon.
Sorry I missed you. You had already left by the time Chao saw me and said that you had stopped in for a while.
We need to find a good drive to go out and play together again soon!
Actually, in addition to the 3.4L engine, individuals and various Porsche shops have dropped in many of the larger engines into Boxsters, such as the 3.6, 3.8, and even a GT3 engine in one (although I know of only one such GT3 engine conversion). They all fit, but just a matter of how much money one wants to spend for the conversion.
