Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Run a quick search for tons of information on offsets which will fit narrow vs wide.
Leading evidence: 'Run quick search' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run quick search' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
The original turbo takeoffs will not fit a narrowbody unless you're running rsr flares.

I've posted part numbers for direct fit sets a couple of times (short story is buy the set sold for 997 narrowbodies in the tequipment catalog if you want OEM).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Really nice car and pictures...
The base 996 was IMHO much better looking than the 4S or Turbo. The lines flow much better. They seem to look better in lighter colours such as this one..
yeah its a giant globe! the turbo wheels are the 18" upgrade and I think they are awsome! IMO.
I wish Porsche didnt ever design the "dippy eggs" headlights though. its the only artistic thing i dont like.
however i am noticing my rear tires getting
very
hot after short runs through town at about 40-45mph. and i think its from the mufflers being so close. tires at correct pressure too, and a good 6 inches (factory) distance from mufflers.
that doesnt make sense (the muffler idea) otherwise we would all have hot tires...
is the wheel hot too? (center)
what type of air are you using
any noise, like light rubbing?
only the rears?
What size tires and wheel offsets
Great pics and fabulous looking P-car. Thanks for sharing
I don't know why your rear tires are heating up so much, unless they're not properly balanced and scrubbing as a result. IIRC, the 996 is known for prematurely wearing the inside of the rear passenger tire. Have you taken temperature measurements w/ a track gauge to quantify the amount of heat being generated?
I believe I was the first down this road a couple of years ago Rudy, and I've sadly been down it a couple of times. It's easy to get confused by all the options.
OEM
I've posted part numbers for direct fit sets a couple of times (short story is buy the set sold for 997 narrowbodies in the tequipment catalog if you want OEM).
Replica
There used to be excellent TUV approved italian made replicas, that factory no longer sells the wheels, so if you don't want to pay OEM you are now looking only at chinese made replicas, which are dirt cheap, not that heavy for street use and look fine. Do not take chinese replicas to the track.
Turbo takeoffs
The original turbo takeoffs will not fit a narrowbody unless you're running rsr flares. Run a quick search for tons of information on offsets which will fit narrow vs wide.
18s vs 19s
I have had two sets of expensive odm / replica 19s. My recommendation, buy 18" chinese replicas, put difference into pss9s or other suspension of your choice and reduce ride height (huge difference once you take tires into account, a decent 305 or in my case 315/25 19 tire costs ~$500 per corner and is about as thick as a rubber band). not worth the extra half inch per side in looks, in fact an 18 on a lowered car will look just as good if not better.
Best,
Hans
