Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace tire' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace tire' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. I find that the tire changing tool with the spare tire comes in handy (threads into the lug nut hole, about 4" long).

I have a hard time tightening lugs in 'X" patterns.

And if you use WD-40 please wash it off from the wheels as it could eat up the clear coat on them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am trying to change the wheels on a 996. I have the bolts out but cannot remove the actual rims. Is there a trick or am I just a weakling? I am just a girl after all.
I ran into the same thing the first time I took mine off. When you replace them, consider some anti-seize compound (auto store) on the surface that contacts the hub. Kind of a messy grease, but you will appreciate it later!
Install the tire hangar in the top bolt opening then push/pull on either side of the tire. This should break the wheel loose. The tire hangar will keep the tire from falling off the car.
I find that the tire changing tool with the spare tire comes in handy (threads into the lug nut hole, about 4" long). That way when the rim finally does break free it'll still hang on the tool instead of dropping and possibly damaging the rim.

Looks like I was beaten to the post button.
Well, you can go to the dealer and purchase it. It runs about $10 (99957107430)
Me neither, but let's just say there is a Cayenne somewhere missing one
Wow, big difference in price. The Suncoast is really nice to use because it is solid polished brass and the wheels slide quite a bit easier than my stock one, but perhaps not $20 easier.
cause I bought one at first... put the post tool on, put the tire on, but tire doesnt stay in place as it rotates on the tool... having two will def keep it in place. Save yourself some time and order 2...
I've already got the one so I'd only need to order one more. Can't say I've had that much of a problem with the single hanger though. 2 just seems handier.
Rotating wheels... now you gotta touch the e-brake with you grimy hands...
extra $9 well spent in my book. Plus, centering the lug hole on top.... I cant plan that far ahead. I have a hard time tightening lugs in 'X" patterns.
ahhh, all it takes is just that one time (especially dealing with 7mm or non-hubcentric spacer)... and wished you had another one.
yea...
removing the bolts with the car on the ground saves at least 5 steps when rotating tires... why do you think the bottom of your engine is basicly flat??
Funny thing, I never knew these hangers existed, and almost killed myself trying to hoist my winter rims onto the rotor lip, and keep them up there while fumbling around for the lug nut, etc, etc! I saw a tire hanger mentioned on another website, so I ordered one on Amazon. Just after I ordered, it hit me that I remember seeing some long tool in the tool kit, and thought - "I wonder if Porsche includes a tire hanger in the tool kit!?"
Found this thread, and cancelled my Amazon order (even though it was only $15 shipped). After struggling mightily with no hanger, using one will improve my situation 100%! Shows how looking at the tools that come with the car is key!
