Correction - I went back and checked my original post on fitting my spacers, and I used 15mm H&R, not 14mm H&R!
Leading evidence: 'Check original post' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). question to the guys with wheel spacers...have you had any issues with balancing your tires after installing spacers....i had a 04 c4s with the sport techno wheels, and the rear had to be fitted with spacers.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Some details of the install:
H&R are the manufacturer - and you'll need extra long wheel bolts as well.
Good thread and great pictures. Someone brought spacers up as a recommended modification, but I had a hard time imagining what they would look like/do... I'm convinced, so now this one has moved up the priority list since it looks like an easy DIY. What's a fair price for these things? Hopefully not too much - I'm finding my wife's eye isn't as discerning as mine, which makes it a tough sell above a certain price threshold.

$129.99 for each pair - then add the cost of the longer wheel bolts to that for a full kit for your 996.
Install is straight forward - use some copper grease on the location screw so it doesn't corrode in place later.
Make sure you use the correct new wheel bolt length - original bolts will be too short DO NOT USE.
H&R Spacers are hub centric, so alignment is no issue - just be sure to clean off the wheel hub with a wire brush to ensure a perfect fit.
Torque wheel bolts to correct setting - then re-check after 100 miles.
Final look - a very affordable and worthwhile upgrade
Red,
Thanks for showing the difference between going with two different sized spacers and using the same size spacer all around. I'm leaning toward 15mm all around - but are there any reasons (other than aesthetics) for going 15mm rear/7 mm front?
Thanks!

Well it would change the track a little bit, and that would have an effect on handling. I can never remember how it works though--if wider track front will make more understeer/oversteer. I think, though, that a wider track rear will cause understeer and a wider track up front would cause oversteer.
Edit: Well hell, I can't figure out how it works. I guess wider track will lower stability everywhere, you're just lowering it by different amounts at the front/rear with different tracks.
The properly sized spacers do make the car look better.
I never told anyone this but I put spacers on my car and thought they looked like ****, so I took them off. I think I just discovered that I may not have installed them incorrectly.
Correction - I went back and checked my original post on fitting my spacers, and I used 15mm H&R, not 14mm H&R!
Also used 10 x 60mm bolts - again from Automotion
So the shots above are all 15mm spacer pics - above posts and URL link to product have been corrected

Dave,
Thanks for the explanation - I didn't even consider those effects.
If I were to hazard a guess (purely from a naive physics standpoint, rather than experience) I would guess wider fronts would result in understeer (you would have to rotate the wheel further to get the same turning radius), narrower fronts in oversteer (you wouldn't have to turn it as much...)
But what do I know - I'm not really a car guy (but I AM a pcar guy... hopefully you don't have to be both...) I'm sure a real car/pcar guy can help with this answer.
Thanks again,
Rudy

I'm no expert either, but I think it would actually change depending on the speed, braking, etc. An issue if we are pushing the limits on a track. Nothing to worry about on the street. I went from nothing to 15s up front and the car handles just as well for DD tasks.
Chris,
Thanks for the offer, I'll take you up on that... it looks like the 15mm size would be the right one...
I'll send you a PM as soon as my car is out of the body shop.

question to the guys with wheel spacers...have you had any issues with balancing your tires after installing spacers....i had a 04 c4s with the sport techno wheels, and the rear had to be fitted with spacers. i had always wheel balancing issues. thanks.
The H&R hub centric spacer should solve that problem - non hub centric spacers are by definition, more difficult to center on the hub, leading to potential wheel vibration issues.
No issues to date using the hub centric spacer on my car.
My mistake, I thought you were actually trying to type in English and screwed up the abbreviation for "spacer," especially since this whole thread is about spacers.
Rest assured, I will never make the mistake of trying to help you again.
does the word.........
susp
.....look like ........
spacer
.........................or does this ..... look like this?......fyi the susp will fit ur honda.............
Screw is an easy way of aligning the spacer while you attach the wheel.
Not essential, as the spacer will push fit onto the hub - just be sure to align the holes for the wheel bolts.
Should have come with the kit - but I think you'll be fine without it.
No problem.
If you did want to get the screws - suspect it's the same one that Porsche use to align the brake rotors on the hub - hence a dealers should have it in stock.
I'm guessing, but I reckon it's the same.
You can see two of them here before the spacer was fitted
since car is for some reason lower in front than back? i only bought 1 set for front 15mm if it doesnt fit then i will use un back and get 7mm for front
maci911:
I had the same problem a year ago. I did actually put the 14mm in the rear and never did install the 7mm in the front and not sure if I will...the 7mm is still in orginal packaging. (Perhaps for sale)
I like the 14mm in the rear since it makes the car seem like a wide body do to the contrast between the front to back tire position. Perhaps it's just my imagination. But I like it.
