They're cheap, grip well, are warm enough for cold weather and if I need to change a tire or do something that gets oil/grease on them, I can just throw them in the washer.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've found that the best driving gloves are work gloves from the hardware store--a cloth weave with a thin rubber (nitrile) coating. They're cheap, grip well, are warm enough for cold weather and if I need to change a tire or do something that gets oil/grease on them, I can just throw them in the washer. At $4-$12, I don't worry about damaging them. Have used them with the car in cold weather and my airplane (where I have to do preflight inspections & preparations and the cockpit is unheated). I buy the thinner ones that give me enough feel for most tasks and are easy to pull off & on. Not really insulated, but the rubber blocks enough of the cold to be comfortable in cold weather while the cloth body gives enough circulation for warmer weather. Cearly not high status "Porsche Design" -- but functional, effective, easy care, hold up well, good grip and work well in almost any temp.

POST 2Original post

Not fire proof... I like rubber grip gloves and use them for lots - but it never occurred to me to try them in the car.

POST 5Original post

I really like the Mechanix gloves for track days - they do the trick.

Come on admit it, you used to wear the one rhinestone glove while driving.

POST 8Original post

For DE or autoX I like to wear a pair of cabretta leather golf gloves. I have sweaty hands and the thin grippy leather works like a second skin.
