Full leather Grey is a great colour, although I have replaced the grey mats with black ones mostly for practical reasons (the weather in the UK!).

I spruced mine up with the following changes recently (thanks to this board I am going broke):

Misc black pieces to offset and set the Black/Grey/AS theme

I am going to use a combo of carbon / black / and AS to jazz it up..
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I love the car... but man, this light grey interior just... i dunno..
Im thinking it will look alot better adding some more aluminum to it.. Any of you all have some pics of tricked out light grey interiors to inspire me?
Carbon and light grey will look super wierd right?
I thought the same thing BEFORE I owned it!
Actually I DO really like it now, and with my Carbon wheel, shifter and brake handle, it looks great! The White gages also work (IMHO)
Give it a while...it grows on ya
WOW!!!
Those two look great...!!!! I guess its all about the accents.. The dark matts seem to work well too.. Ok, im sold already.. that was easy...
Guess I need to get the wallet out..
Thanks a ton.. you made my day...
I loved the graphite grey interior in my 2001, and when I bought the new car I was apprehensive about the black interior but it's fantastic.
Get some aluminum rings and accents and it will look fantastic!
I think that if you did other black accents it would be good, otherwise, I think it would look very bad.
You could paint various parts (that often get done in AS) shiny black to match the seat backs, get black floor mats, etc. so there is an overall 'theme' to the interior...
Yeah i think you're right.. I already have the black floormats. Maybe I could get the center console in a black gloss finish.
To top it off, i'm gonna go with the black bumper plugs..
The older 911's, even up until 99 I think, the patina of the black leather would change and get this shinny color that I really hate. Reminded me of an old mustang interior if you know what I mean?
Also, I was getting a Cab and was worried with the top down it would get too hot.
Well the new black is a nice flat black that has stayed that way, and it really doesn't get that hot.

Shocked to see this thread, because I too just hate that color interior, just too damn chicken to admit it. Just too light colored for my taste. If I had to buy one to get the right car in every other respect, I would do the following:
Carbon fiber steering wheel and other trim pieces
Install black carpet
Different strokes for different folks (I don't like silver cars either). Give me a black full leather or beige/wood interior anytime.
I have the graphite gray interior and I really like it. I also have the deviating metropol blue carpet, which adds depth to the interior and compliments the Lapis Blue exterior color.
I am very happy with my grey interior to offset the midnight blue. I find that small cars feel less confining with light interiors. Also, any convertible with dark interior tends to bake in the sun if you park with the top down, and I don't like to fry my back and derriere when I get in!
I am Sorry guys but.... damm , that light gray is pretty ugly to me, I feel it makes it look like plastic more then anything else. Some of you have done a good Job Making it look better, but just think how good it would look if it were black? This is just my thoughts and should' nt mean anything to those of you , who do like it
I think the key to the grey interior is FULL LEATHER. I saw the difference between mine (full) and another car (an instructor's car I went for a ride in that had no leather upgrades). WOW!!!! what a difference. The biggest and noticable difference was the dash. Looks fugly in plastic or what ever it is. Had a vinyl basketball look and feel to it.
I have to agree though that the full grey interior is boring. Didn't think so when I ordered the car but over time it really got BORING! I spruced mine up with the following changes recently (thanks to this board I am going broke):
Pedals
Black Mats
Trim Rings
AS Steering Wheel
AS Center Console
AS Door bins and pulls
AS/Black Vents
Misc black pieces to offset and set the Black/Grey/AS theme
And many others not as visible in pics.......
Full leather Grey is a great colour, although I have replaced the grey mats with black ones mostly for practical reasons (the weather in the UK!). My Lapis Blue has the grey broken up by some bits of aluminium, just deciding on whether or not to introduce some more........

Wow, I am surprised that so many dislike the grey color, to me it looks great,....blacks my first choice of course, otherwise I would'nt have got it, grey is easily my second choice...
I found them on ebay... they adverstised gold, but they made silver for me.

I think the front 2 were $169 or so... they look very good up close.
Well, i sure feel alot better about my grey having seen what some of you all have done to yours. I am going to use a combo of carbon / black / and AS to jazz it up.. I think the black floormats also make a huge difference..
I am also thinking a black / AS steering wheel will really stand out nicely.
Kilrgt - I feel the same way about a BLACK interior. I have never owned (and never will own) a car with back interior. Black interiors are very bland, IMO. There is just no way to lighten it up (except for a can of light colored spray paint
) and none of the detail really shows up because you get a minimal amount of "shadowing" effect. When searching for my P-car, I found 4 or 5 '04 P-cars that were well appointed and were a good price, but I passed on all of them simply because they had black interiors.
It's all a matter to personal preference, which is why they cars are available in different colors, both interior and exterior!
