However, I put Toyo T1-S on both Porsches partly because it was a better overall tire according to Consumer Reports November 2003 tire test against all other major ultra high performance tires.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Went down to get one tire replaced on my truck today. I had put a plug in the crown last year and was concerned b/c we have some higher temp, long driving planned soon. Some interesting tidbits:
- They offered me to rebalance the other tires for a nominal fee. I declined.
- They have a policy of only mounting new tires on the rear. Wonder what they would do if the front and rears were different sizes.
- They rebalanced and rotated all my tires (at no charge, even though I previously declined) and put the new tire on the RR (was LF)
- They filled all my tires with nitrogen. (I think the benefit is marginal.. last I checked, PV=nRT for all gases, however nitrogen is generally dry, and therefore more consistent in pressure) but they didn't charge me for that either.
- Road hazard included.
- They do have the machine that does alloy rims w/o touching. Didn't need it in this case
- Once I was over my annoyance at the extra time it took... seems pretty good.
Lee, if I am not mistaken, Costco now does Nitrogen only. At least the one by my house does and they informed me that they all use N now. Only downside is they didn't carry or order any of the N-Rated tires that I needed. Bummer. I had to go to Discount tire. But it was only for my track wheels which I don't care if they get scraped, etc.
They can special order them, takes less than a week for any p zero tire, and waaaaaaay cheaper than tr/mounting incld/hazzard incld, I recently found out about them, that's where I'm going next time.
Great price! I am going to talk to my Costco to inquire about the PS2.
BTW Chris, why did you choose the P0? I haven't runt the P0 or PS2 yet and curious what made you go down that path.
The car came with them and it was always easier staying in the same brand when switching two at a time. When I started tracking my car I was impressed with the grip, plus they last a good long time on the street (15k front/24k rear). I really have no complaints with them.
I just bought new Michelins for the Avalon and the Duramax. The hot stroke is to watch for Costco's specials on both Michelin and Bridgestone tires. You save $60 on Bridgestones and $50 to $75 on Michelins depending on the tire model. Check costco.com under their Tire section to determine price & availability of special order tires.

Here in Oregon I think it is an advantage to have Les Schwab standing behind you should your high perf tire fail somewhere near John Day or Lakeview, etc. Just a thought.

Just returned from Costco.....the good news is that for "N" tires, they can get Potenza's, but not the "a"...only S02......and Michelins PS......and the prices are pretty great.
The bad news is that if the size is not the "OEM" listed in their computer, they'll order the tire, but they won't mount it......so when it came to 295/30/18's, it's a no, but 285/30/18 is a yes.
The HRE's I'm getting are 11 1/2x18....they won't take the car in the tire bay w/those size wheels....only if I have 11's.
I'm not sure if this one guy is being a hard-***, or if it's some legal mumbo jumbo....so If I go the way I'd planned, I can save money on the purchase, but no service.
Does anyone know if the CostCo tires are like Walmart tires? i.e. same brand and model numbers but a different compound (and a few other differences) than what you'll get at TireRack, etc. SO3s at costco are $10 more than tirerack but include shipping and mounting/balancing which easily saves me $100 (if my local store has the touchless machine).
I think costco tires are not specially made. they are high vol which costs less. you can often have discount tire shops to match costco's prices if costco won't mount yours due to special size.
Come to think of it, when I told Damon, from TireRack, about the BBS price I got from another vendor, he said he'd match it.....maybe he'll match Costco prices, as long as they're legit.
Costco- drop car of to get tires.... go shop.... spend $200-$300 inside.... then car is done and spend more with the tire shop.... What a racket they have going on!!! Why didn't I think of that????
Nitrogen good..... Air Bad....... I read an article about this a couple of months ago. A lot of the law enforcement community is going to this be cause of the consistent pressure, blah, blah blah. I did some research and found that this is a pretty big deal with some of the auto makers because of roll overs etc. My opinion is that the larger the tire or the higher the pressure there is some benifit to nitrogen. Home garage use is a little costly(bottle, guages, hose, fittings) but i guess it would be another mod!!!
P.S. Don't get the bottle that says"liquid nitrogen" That would be very, very bad!!!
We just got a Costco near us and I was snooping around the tire shop while the wife was elsewhere. The manager wanted to show me the touchless machine. Didn't have time to check all the sizes, but hope they have sizes for the Cayenne as it will need tires this fall. They did list MPSports but don't know if they come in GT3 sizes...do feel a little funny buying tires at Costco for the GT3 though...
So, for those that have compared, are the Costco tires cheaper than TireRack? The price quotes for Costco appear to include mounting/balancing/disposal, while the TireRack tires still require you to go to a tire shop for installation.
