Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'be' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'be' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check sig' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

and we came up with the same low numbers from the first dyno run, 243 RWHP!!!

i will then do dyno runs for just the flash and just the intake and finally doing a run with both the intake and flash.

after the first disappointing dynopack runs they set me up with a dynojet run at a different tuner shop then back at DEVEK (all on their dime!) to see what numbers we would come up with.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

here's the data from the DEVEK dyno day from a couple of weeks back. sorry, no baseline data, just the data collected
after all the mods have been installed.
just wanted to give props to anders and marc of DEVEK. after the first disappointing dynopack runs they set me up with a dynojet run at a different tuner shop then back at DEVEK (all on their dime!) to see what numbers we would come up with. well, to sum it all up the dynapack and DEVEK's setup is as accurate as the dynojet.
there's some good news and bad news.
BAD NEWS
the graph shows the disappointing numbers. ~243 RWHP ~291.6 BHP. UGGH! worse than factory numbers. the run was performed with the
lid closed
.
GOOD NEWS
after the initial disappointment, anders and marc set me up on a dynojet to compare and contrast, again on their dime. sorry, no charts figures for that run but peak HP turned out to be
277 RWHP ~333.7 BHP
. woo hoo! that's more like it!!!
we went back to devek and tested out the dynapack. after numerous runs we came up with similar figures from the dynojet,
267 RWHP ~ 277 RWHP (321.7BHP~333.7 BHP)
BAD NEWS II
so what went wrong? why the low numbers with the first run? back again at devek, we were scratching our heads and tried to figure out where we had gone wrong. was it the dyno or the setup? i mentioned some thing about an
open lid
earlier. well it runs out that the secondary runs, including the dynojet runs, were all performed with an open lid. nothing wrong with that right. dyno runs are almost always performed with the engine lids open.
this made a huge difference!!!
. we did some final runs with the lid
closed
and we came up with the same low numbers from the first dyno run, 243 RWHP!!!
CONCLUSION. the v-flow intake is being choked of air! with the lid open, the intake was not sealed at the top therefore had much more volume of air making more horses, 25RWHP actually. with the lid closed the v-flow was only allowed the same amount of air as the stock airbox would receive.
GOOD NEWS II
there is POTENTIAL for the v-flow to make more horses. since the v-flow intake has in intake plenum similar to oem and draws air out from the same opening i do not think that the v-flow is any worse than oem. in fact it still may be better! it has a freer flowing cone filter so that has to count for something.
FOR THE VERY CLOSE FUTURE
1. i will be setting up more dyno runs next week (hopefully) to get a baseline for oem intake and oem ecu programming. i will then do dyno runs for just the flash and just the intake and finally doing a run with both the intake and flash. there still may be a performance gain between oem and giac/v-flow.
2. knowing the potential being 277RWHP with a free breathing v-flow, i will drill out, YES, drill out the front side of the v-flow to see if it helps (front side so less of the hot engine bay air is drawn)
3. i will be getting a gt3 fiber glass decklid so i can cut a large hole exactly where the cone filter is to aid in breathing (i won't be cutting straight thru the decklid to the outside, HA!). the gt3 decklid has a larger intake cavity so i think this would workwell. might even have a ram air effect. we did another dyno run with a blower pointing straight at the the cone filter and this gave us 3~4 more RWHP! i wanted to get a new wing/decklid anyway so this REALLY gives me an excuse
STAY TUNED
RWHP for a 99 as measured by a dynojet will typically show slighty more than 250 in power and 220 in torque. But if you want to show another figure, the operator can do that for you too.
ok, so 1999 stock is 250 at the wheels. thanks.
Carlos, very interested in your future dyno to ferret out the true benefits of the GIAC flash itself. Keep us posted!!
i will be doing the timetrial series with pca golden gate region (sf bay area).
not sure if the car will be competetive with a supercharger. it may be bumped into modified category and i don't want to deal full cages. however with all the mods, especially the r-compounds, it has bumped me up into the next category containing a few gt3s! i still may not be competetive, HA! it's not about winning anyways, at least not now
.
i will keep everyone posted. i may even try to run the cone filter minus the v-flow airbox (just like the gt3 cup cars) with the engine compartment fan running. may help
