I called my local dealer and they said that the transmitter from the USA had a different frequency setting which would not work in singapore?

Just looking at the various decoded VIN numbers I've seen that they're using different frequencies in the US and Europe.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys, Lost my spare Key FOB recently. Good thing is that the transmitter was not working. My question is, would it be possible if i bought a new FOB from the USA and reprogramme it in singapore for my use? I called my local dealer and they said that the transmitter from the USA had a different frequency setting which would not work in singapore? Is this true? Cheers

POST 3Original post

Just looking at the various decoded VIN numbers I've seen that they're using different frequencies in the US and Europe. I have no idea what theyre using in singapore, but make sure it's the same kind unless the car actually can somehow function on both of them . One is on the 300mhz band and the other is on the 400 mhz band.

POST 4Original post

Not unless the car is from the US, or you take many wheelbarrows of $$ to dealer for new immobilizer unit in US frequency then buy the transmitters for more $
