Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

My 01 C4 had the RMS seal done by the dealer with the latest upgraded seal in 2005 and hasn't leaked since. That was the second replacement on this car once at 10K miles once at 20K now almost 40K and still not leaking.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Newbie here: would like to know if an '01 c4 had rms replaced in 2005 by porsche dealer, I need to worry about possible failure. Was the '05 version of the part upgrade from original? Thanks

POST 2Original post

no need to worry about a leak on a seal that has been dry for 5 years (if it is dry) and has been driven (not stored) and like any other seal.... by definition it is a seal and may weep/leak at some point rather it is brand new or has 1,000,000 miles on it. Fix it if/when it leaks I think you are safe though

I wouldn't place too much concern about what 'might' happen. If you've been following this forum, there are plenty of other common issues that will occur during Porsche ownership.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
