JM&A Group is the company that Valley Motors recommend, they have a good relationship with JM&A Group and use Them most often.

But my question is, can anyone recommend a third party Extended Warranty company that is Porsche friendly.

A friend suggest I contact PCNA and ask if they could recommend a third party warranty co.

The car has to go to the dealership service, where they fix/repair/replace everything that needs it under the original warrantee.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys, new to the Forum and a new 996 owner(1999 996 c4 23000 miles). The info and mod ideas found here are great. But my question is, can anyone recommend a third party Extended Warranty company that is Porsche friendly.
Btw I called AAA and they won't touch it.
I posted here about a week or two ago wondering if PCNA sold an extended warranty to cover its products, but did not get any help. I have a "credit" coming to me to settle another issue, and it's basically down to asking for an extended warranty or a comp 1 day Porsche Driving Experience, since I've already done the two "factory" mods I was interested in (PSE and X74). I would not be buying the warranty from a third party, but am still interested in knowing if PCNA had one and what value the company placed on it.
Alboogie996,
Im surprised AAA wont touch it as I got quoted around $3,700 for 48months/75K with a $200 deductible for a 2001 996 with 7K miles. Ive been doing a lot of research, have been going through contract fine print and have concluded its very difficult to get a clear answer about whether something like RMS will be covered or not. AAA, for example, will not cover a gasket/seal leak unless its a total failure. I also found that AAA is not the issuer of the warranty but just acts as a sales channel for Warrantech who, I found, have various consumer complaints listed against them with consumer affairs. It is very tough to get good feedback of how well some of these extended warranty (service contract) companies are. In the end of the day I have decided to put $4K in an index fund and will wait to see what happens. I figure it should cover 4 or 5 RMS replacements by which point I can decide to keep the car or not. ~ Poe
I struggled with this when I bought mine but went with 1source. Only time will tell if they prove to be any good but they were recommeded by some others on this list and seemed to have a good reputation. I'm about to make a claim for a tire failure so I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks Poe, I called AAA because I am a member and the rep said that they would not issue a policy for Porsches. A friend suggest I contact PCNA and ask if they could recommend a third party warranty co. which I did, the PCNA rep told me to contact my local Porsche dealer, So I am going to call Valley Motors tomorrow. I agree you must read the fine print of any warranty contract because alot of these company are very shady. Btw your investment idea is pretty good!
Warrantydirect.com will not cover 1999s. EasyCare, owned by Ford will. And they cover all seal leaks (but statistically 1999s most likely will not encur RMS anyway). I know this sounds crazy, but drive that gorgeous Porsche to your local Ford dealer.
This is in 1source's fine print...
SEALS AND GASKETS: Seals and gaskets are covered only in conjunction with the repair of above listed covered components. Seepage of seals and gaskets is NOT covered.
I guess they probably won't help with RMS...
You may be correct Turbofan.. I'm having a hard time with the language. Looks like Diamond covers all parts due to Failure, which is also defined as premature wear for that mileage, and the language I quoted pertains to Emerald and Ruby.
I'd actually like to get their policy. I'll look around the site for explicit statements about gaskets. thanks.

Lee : It's unclear to me from your terms whether Diamond covers leaky gaskets

** You are now speaking with John, Warranty Specialist. **
John : leaks on gaskets are not coverde by themselves only on a internial engine job are they covered
Lee : so I won't be protected for a Porsche Rear Main Seal Failure?
John : i didn't say that they are covered only in conjuction of an internal repair
Lee : OK thanks.
I read the diamond policy a few days ago and today. They CHANGED it. It now says:
13. SEALS AND GASKETS: Seals and gaskets are covered only in conjunction with the repair of above listed covered components. Seepage of seals and gaskets is NOT covered.
A few days ago it said that the seepage of seals and gaskets are covered only through the diamond package. Now it doesn't cover it. I can't believe it.
What a coincidence. I just got off the phone with the dealership regarding extended warranty, and got on the board to do a search regarding options.
The dealership offered me a Porsche warrantee that goes up to 6 years from initial purchase up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Same as the original warrantee, except extended an additional 2 years and an additional 50,000 miles. The car has to go to the dealership service, where they fix/repair/replace everything that needs it under the original warrantee. The car then gets a Porsche certification, then I pay approximately $1,800.00 for the certification and warrantee extension.
What do y'all think?
I have a warantee from GE option which covers everything plus electrical etc 2 yr cost 1200$ have made a claim for fuel injector problem had no problem with claim warantee purchased from dealer
Really? I thought it was on the expensive side. No extra fine print. Its exactly the same Porsche warrantee, just extended. I definitely won't be able to get to 100,000 miles within the warrantee period, so essentiallyI'm buying a time extension. $1,800.00 just to add 2 years seems a lot.
I leased the car from the dealer, now I'm buying it for the residual value. So, essentailly, I'm buying a used car, dealer certified with extended warrantee.. It just so happens the first "owner" was also me.
I guess that explains it. I'm talking to warrantydirect and 1source still. 1source says they cover gaskets leaking, but not seeping. I'm waiting for the fine print on that one. Warranty Direct seems to cover gaskets. Jury's still out for me.
Hi everyone, i too am new to the forum and to Porsche. I just purchased my first one, a 1999 C2 Coupe with 39,000 miles, 6spd. I also debated about the ext warranty and if it would cover the only thing that was of true concern for me which is the RMS. I purchased a 3yr/30k mile ext warranty through a company called The Selection, the Extreme coverage package for $1990.00 (i thought it was a good price), and the brochure specifically states in two locations the all seals and gaskets are covered in the extreme package ext warranty.
In regards to the comment by Ford, why are the 1999's statistically not affected by the RMS? I hope that is true, makes me feel more at ease about my purchase.
Incidentally my mechanic, probably one of the last true honest ones i swear, told me today that if i wanted to ever do the RMS replacement, it would cost a total b/w $500-600.00 Not bad i think compared to local Porsche dealer of $950.00
I think I found a fairly honest salesperson, he told me he was giving it to me at cost. who knows? But i still am anxious to know why statistically the 99 year has none or less RMS issues.
Thanx,
Peter
I got an email from 1source today. They say the way the contract reads, Diamond coverage includes seepage of seals and gaskets. They sent me the whole document. Now it's just basic price and coverage comparison.
Yes, today 1source send me an email that diamond coverage includes seals and gaskets. I checked the policy again and it's true. They changed it twice in one week. Obviously they can't leave without the Porsche business.
So here's the deal. I have both contracts in hand. If you make any modification to the car, your warranty is void. A sport muffler will void the warranty. An airbox or spring kit will void the warranty. If you use it to autocross, or even rallye, your warranty is void.
I don't know if I'll be able to resist modifying the car for 6 years or so. I'm starting to think maybe I'll just accept the limitations of the manufacturer's warranty and see how the car does. Further cogitation is required (and there's no hurry for me, the car has 2k miles on it and is 4 months old.)
Thank for all the input. I purchased a protection plan from my local Porsche dealer ( Bob at Valley Motors). JM&A Group is the company that Valley Motors recommend, they have a good relationship with JM&A Group and use Them most often. I got the sliver plan which covers the entire powertrain including all seals and gaskets as well as steering ,brakes, a/c, front suspension and electrical components. 3 years 36K miles for $ 2500.00. As in anything in life, try to negotiate the best deal for yourself. Old Bob started out at $3300.00 but my charming personality got Him to go lower.
I also spoke with the local pcar dealer. Here's what I was told about purchasing an extended warranty on a used pcar:
Coverage same as new factory warranty (ie. everything top to bottom covered)
100k Miles / 3yrs. - $3700
90K Miles / 2yrs. - $3200
50K Miles / 4yrs. - $3500
Add a $300 surcharge if the car starts extended warranty with 30k+ miles.
Whaddaya guys think of that?
sounds good on the surface. you need to see the t's and c's. What if you add a sport muffler, or aftermarket springs? is your warranty void? will they cover damage due to overheating as a result of a failed component? Will they cover seals alone? My advice is to read the contract. And especially, let us know what you find out!
