I used Passport Transport (I think they are owned by Fedex) to move a previous 911 from Kansas City to Colorado Springs.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well guys,
I consummated the deal today on my new 2001 996 c2 aero and now I need to ship it to me in New Mexico from Pennsylnania. Does any one have any experience to recommend a shipper. Should I go open or enclosed truck. I would love to hear any successes or horrors so that i can get my new baby hear. Man, I can't believe this is finally happening. I have been waiting 25 years for this.........Jeff
Ditto on Intercity Lines.
Couldn't have asked for better service, moved my Cup car FL to MA in 36 hours. Never started the motor, roll on, roll off. Updates along the way.
I used Passport Transport (I think they are owned by Fedex) to move a previous 911 from Kansas City to Colorado Springs. I can't say enough great things about the whole experience, the driver was in constant communication, the car arrived precisely on time, the car arrived in perfect condition, and had a couple of 360 Spyders for company. I would only transport a P Car in an enclosed carrier. For me, going with a named firm like Passport or Intercity is the only way to go. Great Purchase and welcome to the Club!!
I've shipped cars from California to Oregon and Oregon to Arizona on several occassions. When you select a carrier, make certain they have experience transporting P/cars or exotics. Their drivers are very knowledgeable about transporting such cars and they are used to dealing with fussy P/car and Ferrari owners.
Try Integrity Lines Inc. You can call for a quote at [phone removed]. They have enclosed trrailers and their drivers are real good. They advertise in Excellence and they are recognized as one of the better carriers. You could also call your local P/dealer and see who they use to move their cars or head down to the local bookstore and get a copy of Hemmings Motor News which has an entire section on auto transport companies.
When you decide who to go with make certain that you ask for a TOP LOAD ONLY...Cars in transport are subjected to a lot of jostling around and fluids including battery acids do sometimes leak and they leak DOWN to the cars below. In addition, lots of road debris that attaches itself to the under carriage can work itself loose and fall on the bottom cars. All this can be pretty messy, dirty and if its battery juice that leaks, well, kiss your paint goodbye. It happens so remember to ask for a top load only and if they won't guarantee that load then find another carrier. Also, ask very specific questions about liability and what is covered and what isn't...be smart.
Congrats on your new car...
Jim
I had planned to fly and drive but health reasons won't allow that.
I have gotten quotes all over the place. So far between $700 and $1950.
Still waiting(till Tuesday)to hear from Intercity. They have a video on their website showing the loading process and I am impressed. I hope the $$$ is in line and I will probably go with them.
Thanx for all the great input. This is going to be a tough time knowing my baby is on her way. I am
way to excited to sleep.
Just shipped my 2001 C4 Seattle to Orlando via Dependable Auto Shippers, top l,oad. enclosed. Pick it up Thursday morning and then off to the races.
Talk to Richard at DAS.
What do you think? $1628 to ship the car intercity lines. does that sound like too much? Is it possible to negotiate? I have had other much lower quotes and other that said they will negotiate but I see Intercity as a highend shipper. I'll pay the price to keep my baby safe but I don't want to pay too much.....Jeff
Car shipping is one of those areas where you get what you pay for - pay the money and
don't
take your chances! My one experience shipping a car is why I've done fly-n-drives ever since.

Congrats on the purchase!
Most shippers are brokers that take your deposit and then find a truck willing to take the job. If you pay $700, your car will never be picked up since others are paying more.
Insurance by shipper is your only guarantee that you'll be paid for any damages. Get one with little or no deductible.
I had good luck with DAS and National. DAS owns its fleet and you can save by getting it terminal-to-terminal. National is a broker but they are pretty upfront about price/realistic PU time. Both have good insurance coverage.
If you don't ship enclosed, it'll be hard to see scratches when you get the car, esp this time of the year (snow season). Enclosed trucks also are smaller so they get filled faster -- you'll get your car faster. It's worth the extra $200 but I personally shipped open to save a few bucks not knowing that scratches will not be seem upon delivery (luckily not an issue for me). Always specify top carrier so you don't get other car's leaking fluids from top.
