Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I Amazoned some hydraulic fluid and filled the reservoir today.

In looking through the shop manual, it looks like part #996-561-931-01, which has been replaced with #996-561-921-00.

Ive seen posts where guys double it over to tighten the elastic and then sew it to itself.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks guys. In looking through the shop manual, it looks like part #996-561-931-01, which has been replaced with #996-561-921-00. Is this it? Thx

The headliner has elastic straps that go left right that help tuck it in as it closes. They get worn out overtime and loosen. If you open it halfway, you can look in there and see them. Ive seen posts where guys double it over to tighten the elastic and then sew it to itself. I just used a stapler and fold it it over itself about 2 inches and then stapled it together so that it was tighter.
Still not a perfect fix. The other thing I do is when Im closing the top I close it and stay in the car and watch it come over my head until the little hook deploys in the front. Then I lean over the passenger side stick my hand out and make sure that its tucked and then I do the same thing on the driver side. I reach my left hand up and make sure that that side is tucked. I do it all while just putting gentle pressure on that plastic cover right by the hook just to keep the top up a little bit then I fully close it. Hope that helps. For me its become minor and better than dropping dollars on a new top and headliner.
So, spent the last 2 days messing with the top. Not fun at all. The cable was not broken but the rivet holding the spring tensioner was. Put a screw into it to hold the tensioner. Cable still doesn’t completely tuck into the plastic frame pieces, I think due to the extra slack in the cable from the screw allowing a bit more than the riveted piece. The header has 4 different sets of torx screws (NOT interchangeable) plus a set of phillips head screws to remove to get to the area the cable tensioner is. I had the top halfway up/down to do the work and as a result, lost the hydraulic fluid out of the passenger side piston.
So, I couldn’t get the top to close. I Amazoned some hydraulic fluid and filled the reservoir today. Finally got the top operating but now, when it’s closed, it is about 1/2” farther back from the roll bar padding than I remember. I took off the rear interior panels and tried to loosen the frame enough to pull it forward but it didn’t work. I put everything back together and cycled the top up and down a few more times before putting the hard top back on. Besides the slight gap between the stowed top and the roll bar cover, the two rear most side wings that fold up after the frame is tucked in aren’t flat/flush. What a pain in the ***. I am mystified at all of the stupid little sht that gets buggy on these cars! In reviewing the service manual, it appears that one needs a Masters in softopology to get these cabriolets dialed in 100%.
