I just had Fabspeed mufflers installed on my 2004 Carrera coupe and am very pleased with the results.

For me, I think the stock wheels just look right on the car (my humble opinion). The only problem is reaching between the spokes to clean the wheels.

I only mention this to others who my be hesitant about, or are thinking about changing their mufflers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just had Fabspeed mufflers installed on my 2004 Carrera coupe and am very pleased with the results. I do not have any affiliation with Fabspeed, Im sure other brands are equally good. As a previous BoxsterS owner I always enjoyed its nice exhaust note. I missed that nice sound in the 996. In my opinion, it now sounds the way it should have sounded from the factory. I was surprised to find that they are only slightly louder than normal (not intrusive). And the note is much lower rather than the higher pitch whine of the normal sound (my personal perception). Personally, I like to hear the revs as I shift up through the gears. I only mention this to others who my be hesitant about, or are thinking about changing their mufflers. The mufflers just amplify my own personal enjoyment of the car. In the end, that's what matters most.
-just my opinion.
What is your opinion on their build quality? I've only heard great things about their sound but have personally seen a set that were ... well, unacceptable in quality and I wouldn't have put them on my car. However, I haven't heard anything around here about their build. What do you think? Did you have any reservations after seeing them in person?
thanks,
kristap
I saw them before they installed them. I remarked to the parts manager that the stainless steel mufflers looked like jewelry to me. Very nice construction. HP increase was not an issue with me, just the exhaust note. I do believe that the throatier sound may give the "illusion" of more power. I understand that sport headers will give a little more HP.
Those are great looking wheels, and I think they are probably a great ride/handling tradeoff -- especially for a daily driver (like mine). I've been considering moving from 18s to 17s for a while now, but I may be too vain
Yea, I'm happy with the stock 17" and stock Michelin Pilots. I had 18" lightweight Carreras on my BoxsterS and the ride seemed a bit harsh for my taste. For me, I think the stock wheels just look right on the car (my humble opinion). The only problem is reaching between the spokes to clean the wheels. But then, you may have the same problem.

I have owned Ruf, PSE and Fabspeeds. The build quality of the Fabspeeds are on par with Ruf and better than PSE IMHO. The fit and finish was easily the best. Installation is easy, there was no "making something work" or having to loosen everything up to get it to fit. Issues I have experienced with Ruf and PSE, the fabs just bolted right on. Sound wise they sound great, not obtrusive at all, plus a little more pull at higher RPMs.
FWIW when I tried the Fabspeed airbox kit the sound inside the car was louder, too loud for me and I took it off. If anyone wants a lightly used Fabspeed airbox kit you can have it for cheap.
