Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Amigos, well my wife and I just completed the final steps of our Home Theater Room. Just in time for the Super Bowl. The Equipment is as follows:
TV - Pioneer ELIT 70" 16 x9 HD
Dennon 5800 AV receiver with power swapping to a 600 W RMS Onkyo Amp
Speakers are Infinity Kappa 10 - Towers and a SVC Subwoofer
Dennon Super Bit DVD Player
Dish Network HD Receiver
The Room is currently 20 - 17 and is temp controlled at 69 degrees - The entire room is sound proofed to 300W - AWESOME.
The Dennon is Great, Two Tray, Progressive Scan, High Audio Output - The Picture is truly amazing - I watch AVP with my kids - truly AMAZING !
I have two Plasmas but the ELITE is simply too dam clear and crisp.
I heard pioneer elite makes some real cool dvd players as well, I saw one and was very impressed with the picture quality, I have a denon AV reciever too...I need to upgrade my dvd...I am waiting for the HD dvd players to arrive...I cannot justify a fifth dvd player just sitting around
.
You hooked up an amp to an av reciever...so does it by-pass the built in amp...how is it done?
I like my bravo d1 with dvi out. The technology is the same for considerably less. You can also change the resolution output etc, many many features. Plus no copyright protection if one wanted it-
What denon are you guys using? I have a 3803 in my kitchen with all the wiring and components concealed in there and everything else mounted on the walls-
I don't know the model# of my denon av-reciever (I am at work), I bought it about 4 yrs. ago...was debating between that and the marantz, I am happy with the denon. I don't have a dedicated media room yet, so the built in amp. with the highly sensitive Paradigm-Reference speakers have more than enough juice. My subwoofer is set at like 20% (radioshack sound meter is handy to set speaker volumes), at 50% the whole house rattles.
Sweet I have also used that meter and returned it to set the levels.
5805 is a monster!
How do you like the self mic setting of the 5805? I have heard that those settings are never quite perfect? Neat idea however for someone who doesn't want to fuss with the levels etc.
Yup, Pioneer Elite is the best bang for the buck. Bought mine 5 years ago, and it's still better than anything I've seen out there. Plasma has a ways to go before it can beat projection for clarity, crispness, color balance. Mine is 62", not quite as big, but big enough for me.
Your set up looks great!! Now all you need is a popcorn machine!!
I had an Onkyo receiver and recently upgraded. I was torn between the Denon and B & K. Both had great reviews. I actually had both at home for trial. Mated to my Defintive Tech speakers, my ears liked the B&K better.
I have one of the earlier top-line progressive scan SuperBit DVD player. Still works great, for it's intended purpose of playing DVD movies, but there is so much new media out there for high fidelity/high idigital content audio. Anyone care to comment on a multi-media player?
Hi there Palting, You may have heard this...at the end of the year we will see the first high def. DVD players hitting the market with lots of HD-DVD movies, soon to be followed by blu-ray high.def DVD (the competing formats), so you may want to wait till then for a player. I personally don't think they will settle on a single format, what the heck, I'll just buy both players, b'cause movies on high def. is going to be amazing. I am not really into DVD-audio, so I don't know much about those multi-media players.
If your looking for a universal player that does SACD and DVD-A well look into the Denon 2810 or 3810 for under 1k. Or if you want an outstanding stand alone DVD player look into the Arcam for around 3k. The Arcam has stellar video quality or look into the Proceed although it is alittle quirky.
RJMDAD996-looks great. I am also in NJ and about to build a theatre. For my curiousity, why did you not go with a projector? Also, I have Directv with Tivo and am considering switching back to cable as they have more HD channels (including the Mets and Devils games) and DVRs. I cannot watch tv without tivo or a DVR of some sort...does dish network have one?
Great setup.
But I would have had it so there is an access from the rear. Also the Denon is great for 2 rooms but if you need more multi-video out I would have went with a ADA HTR-2400, which has a lot more capability and the remote ir control keypads are great.

Just one look and your know why - Truly, It's like when my friends ask me why the 911 and not someone else, I always reply "Just one drive and then your understand" If your ever in the Area,Stop by, love to have you experince it.
RJMDAD996 - your theater looks great. There are a lot of options out now in the way of seating too. I have some links, etc saved from when we shopped for ours if you're interested.
Our Theater
We call it the somniplex because it seems to be more like a dormitory for all of the snoring that comes out of there.

Regarding front projection:
Front projection will give you the bigger screens. 70" is pretty much the max for rear projection. 100" front projection is what a buddy of mine has. It also looks more impressive, especially if you have it set up where the screen and projector disappear into their respective cubby holes into the ceiling. My buddies speakers disappear into the walls as well. It allows you to use the space for something else when the video equipment is hidden. Even if you leave it open, the space ocupied is less than with rear projection. Size for size, the rear projection and front projection video quality is equal in a dark room. Size for size, the front projection will cost significantly more to achieve the same video quality as the rear projection, even if you don't take into account the cost of making the components disappear.
I chose the rear projection for it's simplicity and value. My "theater" is also a family room. It's a room we play games in, read newspapers, play board games, whatever. We also use the same TV to watch regular shows. I mean, I let my 5 year old turn on the Elite and watch Sesame Street! Theater time comes around, then the lights go down, the Elite built-in speakers are muted, the towers and additional 3 separate subs go on, and we hang on for a roller coaster ride theater experience. Sorta like my C4S. A sedate sedan on the road, and a monster on the track.
On the DVD player:
Thanks for the info. Jeeva, yeah, I've heard about the HD DVD and equivalents. I'm also and audio nut, and I'll look into Arcam. Thanks ca996.
Pretty interesting comment by Palting:
"...Plasma has a ways to go before it can beat projection for clarity, crispness, color balance."
Are you talking about front projector or rear projector?
Have you seen the Pioneer Elite Plasma? I would put my 50" Elite up against just about anything out there.
Rear projection. That's what I see on a side by side comparison. That's also what I've read from videophile experts. To be honest, though, have not seen the Pioneer Elite Plasma. Yet.
I have a Sim2 Seleco rear projector in my dedicated HT. It is VERY good, but the image on the Elite Plasma is way better. The Sim2 cost more than the Elite.
