Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Either through intermediate shaft seal, rear main seal, cylinder wall crack or other type of catastrophic failure? As I look for a car, I want to know how easy it is to detect thsi sort of thing. Most likely the car will be higher mileage ~80-90k. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Not sure, however, a car with 90,000 miles is more than likely not going to implude on purchase.

POST 3Original post

even if it all checks out... nothing is ever gaaranteed... 90k is nothing on these cars

POST 4Original post

In short, no......teardown of the engine and non-destructive and destructive testing would have to be done to determine the likelyhood of failure.

POST 5Original post

it will show you the current condition. it with a good look at the history of care and the revs can provide a basis to make you feel good about buying or not..... but nothing is 100%
