Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Okay...
here is one for the experts out there... which is the faster track car... the Club Sport 968 or a stock 996 with ROW...
I know the 968 is a much sought after vehicle but it is much older than 996 technology and I would think the 996 with ROW is a superior car on the track no?

Pete,
Depends on the type of track. A 996 would outpower a 968 on a track with plenty of long straights but on a smaller circuit, the 968 CS would rule.
Ciao,
Johannes E.
I'm not sure I would agree. I'm pretty sure with similar drivers the 996 would outperform the 968CS on most any track. If I'm not mistaken a sparsly equiped 996 would be about the same weight, have a 50-95 hp advantage, better brakes, bigger tires and better suspension.
The 968 sure was pretty though.
Jim
Having owned a 951 with a modified suspension and a 996 with a ROWM030, I can say that the 996 is the better car all around. The 996 is more modern, has a better air conditioner, rides better, gennerally much more user friendly. Also in terms of track time it has more power and the grip is similar. I know guys like the 968 ballance, and I agree its a good balance, but the 996 is just as good. The only advantage the CS has is that the suspension is more track ready, but you can make a 996 better than the CS. IMO get the 996.
The 968 CS would likely lose out to a 996 on the track. It weighs the same, has less hp, has slower acceleration, and lower top speed. This does not bode well for it on the track. Nonetheless, it does not detract from what is likely the best front engined Porsche ever made.
On our local 2.6 Km track, my times on first outing in new 996 were about 4 seconds faster than my previous best in my 968 coupe. Both cars at that stage were stock standard on street rubber.
