Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to the dealer today to pick up my new, ordered 3 months ago 04 C4S Cab and guess what? She's a beauty except for one small item. I ordered her with supple leather front and back and she came to me with standard leather front and supple in the rear. What should I do? Everyone missed it from porsche AG all the way to the dealer. Dealer says that they (porsche) will just send a new pair of supple leather seats over from germany but they couldn't give me a delivery date today. What do u guys think, is this a big problem? Is a seat swap any problem? any comments appreciated. thanks

POST 2Original post

seat swap is cake, take delivery of the car and enjoy it, and when the supple seats get here, it will be your perfect car.

POST 3Original post

My front seats had a recall and I took it in to have them swapped today. The work was all completed in less than 3 hours. No problems, no mess. Take the car and start enjoying it today!

POST 5Original post

Also had my seats swapped a couple of weeks ago as part of a safety recall. You cannot tell - no marks or scuffs or anything

POST 6Original post

ronp, Congrats on the new ride. Sounds like a beauty! PICS! PICS! As everyone has said, the seat swap should not be an issue...in the meantime enjoy your car.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got a call from the dealer today about the wrong seat leather on my new C4S. Ordered supple seats but came with standard leather. Initially, the dealer said that they would do a seat swap with a new pair of seats from the manufacture, however after further discussions with the PCNA rep it was decided that they won't do a seat swap but instead a cover swap at the dealer. what does everybody think about that? Is that acceptable will the dealer be able to swap the standard cover with the supple cover and have it be as good of a job as the manufacture. urgently need opinions/thoughts. Thanks. Pictures will follow this weekend.

POST 8Original post

I have supple leather and probably wouldn't get it again. After some use it looks more creased/wrinkled/crushed. Just my opinion. Congrats on you new P-car.

POST 9Original post

If it were me, I would tell them new FACTORY seats or keep the car....

POST 10Original post

I have the supple leather and after almost 5 years and 60,000 miles later they look great and are quite comfortable (and I am a large man). I wish I had them in my 928......

POST 11Original post

It does not sound like PCNA and the dealer are getting off to a good start here. If it was me, I would not accept a new cover. It was their screw-up and they should give you new supple seats at the minimum. Being as picky as I am, I would be concerned about the bolts not being factory set. Now you are removing and re-bolting new seats which means things get a little looser than the factory original. Who knows how the new cover will fit and last versus a factory manufactured seat with supple leather? If it was me, I'd walk from the deal for real or as a bluff) or get them to come up with a price concession for all the hassle. I can't imagine it will be so easy to unload a 996c4s this late into the season when the 997 is coming out in September. I bet the dealer is more desperate to get this car off his inventory than you are about getting into it. Worst case scenario is that you end up waiting a little longer and get a 997s unless awd is a necessity for you.

POST 12Original post

I would not accept recovered seats. You paid for new seats from the factory not for reconditioned units which is effectively what you will be given. You also have no idea about who will do the work and whether the durability on these would be as good as new items. Its up to you and I fully appreciate the temptation to just go with it (which is no doubt what they are counting on) but I would say no. No guarantees but I believe if you ring them up and say sorry but this is not what I paid for either get me factory seats or return my check they will change their minds PDQ. Good luck with whatever you choose. Barry

QUOTE] If I were in this situation, I'd tell the dealer that I'd want new factory seats or they can have another 2004 on the lot when the 2005s arrive. The dealer and PCNA ought to be bending over backwards to make you happy-there are many of 2004s on the lots and you might be able to pick one up on another dealer's lot for a better price. Good luck!

POST 14Original post

As I recall, the seat back is actually a removable insert (so that would be fine) but the seat bottom is a whole unit. They need to send you new seats!
