Cheap no name brand which I use for household stuff, and domestic brand cars.
Leading evidence: 'Use household stuff, and domestic brand cars' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace length' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Very handy and tough I use it for anything above 60 ft lb, especially good to use for lug nuts.

Suggestion
Torque is Force x Length and the adapter attached perpindicular to the wrench doesn't change the length.

Snapon 1/2 drive, this is the dial in type so you don't have to set the torque back to 0 everytime you use it, just leave it as it is.

In your case I would use the 1/2 for the 10mm hex bolt of the brake caliper, and the 3/8 drive for engine oil change.

Suggestion
Yeah, 1/2 drive torque wrench is way too much to use for oil change, it shouldn't have any problem fitting under the car for an oil change, but you will have to use 1/2 hex drive and 1/2 oil filter cup, which is probably not avaliable so that means you will have to use an adaptor to down size from 1/2 to 3/8, which will throw off the accuracy of the torque wrench.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

There are 2 torque wrenches I am looking into at sears, one is longer than the other by about 4", but both are clicker type 3/8" socket. Which is more useful, the shorter handle one, or the longer handle one? I kind of think the shorter one so I can get into tighter places like when working on brakes, but the shorter one will not have as much torque as the longer one.. what would you recommend? Is 3/8" drive big enough?

FWIW
Be advised that these are 3/8 inch drive wrenches that are incapable of torquing lug nuts - 96 lb-ft. Determine what fasteners you will be torquing, their torque specs, and select accordingly.
Cheers,
The first one is in inlb (25-250inlb => ~2-20fltlb) and would be almost useless on a car (maybe on brake bleeder valve?). The second one is 10-75ftlb and that would cover a lot of lighter duty stuff but not big bolts (e.g., suspension, lug nuts, etc.) There's another one, 20-150ftlb 1/2" drive, which would cover almost everything you want to DIY.

Get this one from Sears Instead
You need a 1/2" model to go over 100 ft pounds. The wheel lugs are 95 ft/lbs. and need a 19 mm socket.
This is the one that I have and it has been great!
Plus it is on sale for $59.99
I have three torque wrenches
(1). Snapon 1/2 drive, this is the dial in type so you don't have to set the torque back to 0 everytime you use it, just leave it as it is. Very handy and tough I use it for anything above 60 ft lb, especially good to use for lug nuts.
(2). Sears 3/8 drive, generally I use this one for anything from 15 ft lb - 60 ft lb
(3). Cheap no name brand which I use for household stuff, and domestic brand cars. (When friends bring their car over to be worked on)
I've been thinking about getting the Snapon Robin has but was concerned about the 5ftlb increment. So I assume I'll have to round up the torque to the next 5ftlb mark? Is that pratically ok?

I think the
Bestest
tool I have ever purchased was the
Snap-On TechWrench
digital torque wrench. It beeps, it vibrates, it has an LCD. It is just the coolest thing ever. The only negative is the price but it was still totally worth it even if it's only slightly more accurate than the two Sears torque wrenches I also own.
do you think the 1/2" drive is too big for an oil change?
Will it be hard to fit into the wheel well for brake rotor changes or in the engine compartment for pully's etc...?
Yeah, 1/2 drive torque wrench is way too much to use for oil change, it shouldn't have any problem fitting under the car for an oil change, but you will have to use 1/2 hex drive and 1/2 oil filter cup, which is probably not avaliable so that means you will have to use an adaptor to down size from 1/2 to 3/8, which will throw off the accuracy of the torque wrench. The torque wrench need as little connection and extension as possible to be accurate. Try the 3/8 drive unit with small torque value.
That's why I have 3 torque wrenches.
In your case I would use the 1/2 for the 10mm hex bolt of the brake caliper, and the 3/8 drive for engine oil change.
<<The torque wrench need as little connection and extension as possible to be accurate. >>
Using an adapter to go from 1/2 inch to 3/8 socket (or vice-versa) won't affect the torque reading. Only if you extend the length of the wrench with an extension, such as a claw adapter, will you need to account for the increased torque vs. the nominal setting. Torque is Force x Length and the adapter attached perpindicular to the wrench doesn't change the length. I agree with the recommendation to get more than one wrench. The accuracy decreases at the extremes (min and max torque values) for a given wrench.
