It was recommended to me my numerous sources to replace the "axle" and not just one tire because of potential grip and handling differences in the snow and ice.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need to replace one of my rear 17" Dunlop Winter M2 tires because there's a small bubble. I can't find this tire anymore, and I'm thinking of replacing it with an M3. Does this almost sound like a good idea?

POST 2Original post

The Dunlop M3 Wintersport has been very well regarded. I don't think that you'll have a problem as long as you are using the same tires on the left and right sides.

POST 4Original post

I think the M3 is just an evolution of the M2...not radically different. I would agree, though, about replacing two instead of just one.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah I was afraid of having to replace both tires... sucks the left rear is in perfect condition, oh well. Thanks.

POST 6Original post

Try The Wheel Exchange www.wheelexchange.com . I think they still have some M2's in stock.

POST 7Original post

I suppose if you only drive to "get by" in the winter, you could probably get away with just changing the one. That would just make me too nervous. But I'm that way sometimes...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I didn't see any tires on their site, but I'll call them. Tire Rack only had a few sizes in the M2's, and I need 255/40 R17 I might just order both rears and be done with it. Rob

POST 9Original post

I had to do this on my wife's BMW (same problem bubble on the sidewall) and could not find an M2. I purchased 2 new M3's instead of just one. We have but about 3000k miles on them with no handling problems. It was recommended to me my numerous sources to replace the "axle" and not just one tire because of potential grip and handling differences in the snow and ice.
