Leading evidence: 'Install refreshed gt3 suspension' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'actual number are different' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust rears' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Luckily, I happened to have an aftermarket adjustable set and installed those instead (attached to the pinch bolt).

My wrench and I run 500/700 max on our race cars including cups and we've been quite successful with that setup....

- The stock GT3 front drop links interfere with the wheel carrier and cannot be used (unless you install the GT3 carrier).

Suggestion
Instead of mounting the drop links to the pinch bolt you mount to this collar which completly changes the geometry allowing the suspension to travel which makes the car handle better and keep the wheels on the ground.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Installed my refreshed GT3 suspension today.
Only issue I hit was the following:
- The stock GT3 front drop links interfere with the wheel carrier and cannot be used (unless you install the GT3 carrier). Luckily, I happened to have an aftermarket adjustable set and installed those instead (attached to the pinch bolt).
Thank you to Bilstein, Tarett, and Rennline.
Huge thanks to everyone before me who shared their knowledge regarding this upgrade! Rennlist rocks!
Now, to the track!
Check out the Tarett drop link shock mounts. They correct the geometry of the pinch bolt solution. In particular, the drop link mounted to the pinch bolt is shorter thn optimal, and under certain inputs, the sway bar will exacerbate will lift. I recall that you can verify this by putting the front of the car on jack stands and adding wheel lock. One of the wheels will slightly lift.
I think there are some threads on this, most likely in the racing section as the spec boxsters were the folks that developed the solution. I have some pictures of this on my old car showing huge wheel lift. I'll dig them up and repost a little later.

If you can post pictures of the front setup with your drop links, I think that was the tought point indeed.
Did you send your shocks to bilstein for remanufacture ? did you also send the springs ? or just the shocks ?
The 996 stock suspension is too high and too soft, with this setup you will have a lot more fun.
But for daily driving I think the stock suspension does wonder.
Just curious why you are not using the stock GT3 front sway bar mount collars? That would be more optimal.
Mine only had 1 set of collars that came with my used set. I transferred them to the rears and used the pinch bolt location for awhile until I could locate some GT3 ones.
In my quest, I found that you couldn't buy just the collars from Porsche NA as they didn't even have a separate part number for it. I read somewhere that this was only available through Porsche Motorsports division.
During that quest, I found a Chicago Porsche tuning company that offers aftermarket sway bar mount collars similiar to the stock ones. I forgot the link at the moment but I'm sure you can find them if you do a search.
In a quick nutshell:
GT3 suspension is stiffer(swaybar, dampening, spring rates) and height adjustable so you can corner weight it for hardcore track junkies. It has different swaybar pickup points to use with the GT3 adjustable sway bars.
x74 is more sport tuned for the streets and non adjustable in both factory sway bar and height.
Ira from Tarett was a great help and mentioned that solution. At the time, I had already purchased the oem sway bar collars. It was my understanding that an adjustable drop link, that attached to the gt3 collar, was available (it isn't). I resigned myself to the oem drop links.
I'll snap some photos this week. Send your shocks, without springs, to Bilstein with the "Service Order Repair Form" included in the package and you'll get a call when they arrive.
You can order the oem collars from FVD (
http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/-/..._993_rear.html
). Which drop links are you using in the front now? There wasn't enough clearance for the oem link between the collar and the carrier.
And how many of your posts I read I can't even count
Tell you what, you kept great track of the various spring rates for these cars... Let me be the first person, other than yourself, to post them:

I am amazed at the spring rates of the GT3s. I assumes they were much stiffer. As an example, the spring rates for Bilstein PSS9s are basically the same for the GT3 996-2....
Yeah I was too when I first found out. The magic is probably more in the dampening as this setup feels like there is more damper than spring(my preference).
I had the X74 on my car for awhile and that was very stiff. Drove a 996-2 GT3 and that was stiff. I dont get it. Dampening or not, the spring rates on the GT3 seem kind-of light...
Oh not really. The MK1 GT3 weighs approximately 3000 lbs, the MK2 3042 lbs, the MK1 996 2901 lbs and the MK2 996 3077 lbs (depending on what options are on the vehicle). I still do not understand the spring rates on the GT3
I'm going to keep preaching this over and over.... Modern P-cars do not need excessive spring rates to handle their best. Cup cars come with heavy springs to compete on the glass like surfaces found on the tracks in Europe. TRG and other pro race groups run much softer springs on our tracks when they're allowed to change them such as in Grand-Am. In the 996 platform you need the suspension to travel allowing the shocks to do their work along with the sway bars. With the 997 they raised the upper mount to alleviate that problem. The longer Tarett shock mount collars for the fronts really are the answer to this issue. Instead of mounting the drop links to the pinch bolt you mount to this collar which completly changes the geometry allowing the suspension to travel which makes the car handle better and keep the wheels on the ground. My wrench and I run 500/700 max on our race cars including cups and we've been quite successful with that setup....
PS: Ingnore that this sway bar is set at full soft. For the track put them at 1-off full stiff and weld the nut on. Adjust the rears to fit, usually in the middle.....
.
Thanks for the reminder JR. When we meet a few weeks ago you discussed this with us and it make a lot of sense. We plan on installing this setup and parameters on George's car...
I'll ultimately switch to the extended drop link design in the future. Seeing as the oem C2 links mount to the pinch bolt too, I'm no worse off right now.
