Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My function is: dirty oil=cleaned engine but this is my opinion.

I have just changed my motoroil after 5k but it was already dirty.

Suggestion
I'd suggest, put in 8, check level and add appropriately.

Suggestion
But what I see is that everyone is showing the "inner" tunnel of the filter - Namely the "clean" side.

Suggestion
I think that if you change the oil every 4k or 8k, you must use a semi-racing motor oil for your flatsix; standard oils are formulated for higer mileage and in my humble opinion those motoroils have less detergents.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I took some pics of my 11 month old oil draining out today, along with the magnetic drain plug, and a cut open filter element ( I know I need to upgrade to the spin on/off from JR.).I couldn't believe that there were no ferrous or plastic debris anywhere on the filter, absolutely clean. Even my oil drain plug had hardly any material that my eyes could detect. Drove only 2,799 miles since last oil change. Have documented 14 oil/filter changes from new, averaged 2,359 mi. between oil changes in 72,200 miles. Still on OEM IMSB and water pump. My 911 runs like a clock!
Here's the one I have.

I've never seen the Castrol Edge (Syntec) 5w 40 in 5 quart jugs, but they usually give you the equivalent sale price on the one quart size. I just changed mine and it looked similar to the photos above, but I drove just under 3000 miles since the last change. The magnetic drain plug was nearly spotless.

Only those whot know how important a 'clean' oil filter element can be compared to one with lots of ferrous particulate and/or plastic chunks. I use it solely as an indicator to engine health.

Hmmmm....
Please correct me if I'm wrong... But....From the cutouts of the various oil filters shown on this thread I noticed everyone is saying how clean and particle free their filters are... But what I see is that everyone is showing the "inner" tunnel of the filter - Namely the "clean" side.
Have you guys been checking the outside ridges of the filter - Namely the "dirty" side?...
Hi guys,
excuse my poor english, I'm from EU. I think that if you change the oil every 4k or 8k, you must use a semi-racing motor oil for your flatsix; standard oils are formulated for higer mileage and in my humble opinion those motoroils have less detergents. this is, I think, the reason why after 4k your oil seems still like new. I have just changed my motoroil after 5k but it was already dirty. My function is: dirty oil=cleaned engine but this is my opinion.
just a question: what does it mean "European car Formula" on Mobil 1 Jar ?
Dearest 996 friends! I'm planning to change my oil and filter this weekend. Can anyone tell me what the oil capacity of my 3.6l 2002 996.2 is please?
I can see mixed messages on the forums that range from 5 to 8 quarts. My user manual doesn't seem to have this information and my local Porsche dealership doesn't seem to answer their phone, ever.
Thanks!
