(the porsche tecnical charge this repair to 500 euro) .I check the ecu and the total time that the engine was working it's similar to total kilometers, but the interior looks like a car with much more kilometers.

This oil leak drive me in the future to change the engine?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hallo to everyone member of this fobulous forum.
I am interesting in a grey carrera 996 4s 2002 model with 45000km in odometr.
In the morning me and the owner go to Porsche zentrum to make a PPI. The results of the PPI was all good exept a little oil leak from the right lid valves. They told me that will be the right cylinder flange. It's all ok with this car ? This oil leak drive me in the future to change the engine?
Thanks a lot for your time.......Nice people in nice forum...
oil leaks do not require new engines....
If that is the only issue with the PPI, ask the people who did it to estimate the cost of repairs to fix the leak and use that cost as a means to negotiate the price on the vehicle.
Sounds like a good owner if he/she was willing to go with on the PPI - GL with the purchase
Thanks a lot my friend. The owner of the car is a good person ,he tolde me everthing for the cars history( painting repairs, bumber changing, wind screen change ...etc) and he didn't know for that oil leak, the last service was in 35000km in Porsche dealer . Tomorow morning i am waiting a phone call from the Porsche mecanic to told me about the total repear costs so i can trade the price later.
This oil leak from right lid valves(right cylinder seals) is an often problem for the 996 3.6lit models? This motor is a bad motor?
Very nice forum. Yesterday night i read many many threads and i believe tha the oil leak that porsche mecanic found in PPI , is from the right valve cover or from the spark plugs o-rings ............... I am waiting the total cost from Porsche Center
I forgot that this car has and elecrtical window or door lock problem.....
window can be as simple as re-teaching it or the micor-switch is out... fairly common
door lock? - what is it doing/not doing?
+1 +2 ?? WFT did I miss something
The car is accident free. I check it from the insurances history file, and the porsche mechanic told me that it's ok , all of this changes was from bad parking and daily drive facts. The wind sreen was from a stone in autobahn.... The only thing that doesn't look good to me is the
very low kilometers
, 45000km for a 2002 car
and the problem with oil leak from right valve cover
(the porsche tecnical charge this repair to 500 euro) .I check the ecu and the total time that the engine was working it's similar to total kilometers, but the interior looks like a car with much more kilometers.
Greek people always change the total kilometers from the odometer to trade the car for better price......it's to good to be truth.....
At last i bouyght this car for 40000 euro with 45k on odometer, I am very happy for this.... it's a fantastic at driving, handling, speeding with a very good engine noise.I hope be out of engine problems. Tommorow i will go for washing becouse i have the most dirty 4s on the world
Nice and nasty car is perfect.
To keep away from scratching the paint and clear coat make sure you have a microfiber mit or wash clath to wash the car. Keep it waxed all the time.
Great pictures you posted. Next it will be pictures of the car all cleaned up and waxed. Good luck with the bugs coming up this spring. Also even if the car is a 4S it doesn't mean the yellow warning lights on the strasse can be disreguarded. Play safe and have fun.
There is a car in that pic?
She could have her way with me once..... OK, twice.... but definately not more that 50 times! I wouldn't want her to think I was easy!
You guys just gave me an idea for a new restaurant chain..... Camel Joe's!
All the waitresses will wear tight fitting light tan shorts with the center seam stitched in such a way that it will guarantee that you will see Camel Toes on each one!
Our hot dog buns will be called Camel Toes and our slogan will be "We have Wieners in Camel Toe Buns!"
Damn, I gotta leave work. I'm getting punchy!
I love it!
A new restaurant opened up near us recently (I've not been there yet, but have heard about it) that I'll have to take Phil to. The place is called Brick House and apparently the waitresses are built like... well, you get the idea and the outfits are skimpier than those at Hooters.
I'm thinking that we need a Porsche meeting there.
I washed my Porsche today and also washed the engine in order to see my oil leak that said to me in the PPI O(right valve cover leaks). With my mobile phone take a pic from the oil spot (not very good). I'm watching the oil level (was full) and the oil drops in my garage after using the car for 700 km(3-4 drops). Therefore is this leak dengerous for my engine? This oil leak must be fixed imidiately? Can wait for a few days before fix this damage ? It's my first PORSCHE and i'm very stressed with oil leaks .......
Funny thing, when I told her I wasn't getting a bike, we suddenly adopted a rescue kitten, um .. "*****" - for real - she's a 7 month old bronw tabby named Lily, and she's very sweet. Is that what you meant?? Was my wife trying to tell me something - like that was the only ***** I was going to get??
Bawhahahahahha!!!! ^^^^^^^
I thought the kicker was when your wife told you that if you got a bike, you couldn't wear any head gear when you rode it. That way if you were in an accident you would die right away rather than becomming a vegetable that she would have to take care of for years! Ain't love grand?
The leak is not hurting anything but may be somewhat messy. Your car holds about 8-9 quarts of oil and would have to leak for a long time, possibly several months or even longer without adding to it to become dangerously low. If left alone the leak may become worse over time or it may stay the same. If it is convienent and money is not an issue fix it soon. If not check your oil weekly, add oil if low, and fix it when you can. It's a very minor thing, not woth stressing over.
She actually did tell me that, with the caveat that if I survived, she would drive me to a Philly commuter train station and put me on the most frequently traveled track - just to make sure.
