Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I have the part # for the retrofit kit that converts to screw type pins and receivers, but if you clean the bayonets and spray some CRC on the springs, test it for a tight fit ( theres a green dot indicator on the receiver that'll show if you have rotated the bayonet far enough) and you should be good to go.

How do I remove the panels needed to change the whole set-up to screw type?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bought a hard top for the cab. I removed the rear mount plugs for the first time and believe I have the bayonet type since it seems that there is a single slot that spirals from top to bottom. I couldnt find any wires to hook up to the hard top. It's a 5 hour drive to get the top and I thought I might take the cab but need to be sure I can install it otherwise the Suburban... Is there a special tool that is required? Thx...
Right here ... $27.70 at Suncoast; you can pry get it at sunset or locally...

did you also buy an older hard top with the bayonets? I have the part # for the retrofit kit that converts to screw type pins and receivers, but if you clean the bayonets and spray some CRC on the springs, test it for a tight fit ( theres a green dot indicator on the receiver that'll show if you have rotated the bayonet far enough) and you should be good to go. GL.
Yes it's bayonets.... Can I use just a hex tool if I can't get the proper tool today? Still didn't see the wire harness on my car... How do I remove the panels needed to change the whole set-up to screw type?
How do I remove the panels needed to change the whole set-up to screw type? RT has a Thread on this, quite easy but involves taking some plastic and covers off to access that area....IDK if it mentioned how to remove bayonets if your top has those.....
Bada bing..just the answer I was looking for....thnx, now I can test out the defroster on mine.
Ok... I'm not that bright .... What is RT where the info is and what type of spray is CRC? Drove 11 hours round trip to get it today. When I got there found it had been stored outside... In a big rain year... Bayonets are rusty.... Thoughts?
Swap the bayonets (receivers and males) over to the threaded system. Don't take a chance with crappy components--and the screw in system is less noisy.

CRC is a brand of lubricant. RT is Renntech.com ; there are plenty of Do it yourself (DIY) threads. Search under hard top. If the bayonets look crapped out, get the screw in kit. my bayonets are working perfect..for now
