Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The used to tell me the same thing about my 99 540, the sensors they were talking about on the BMW actually adjust the xenon headlights with the weight on the car.

I use a specialty alignment shop in town that does a lot of race cars and SCCA racers vehicles.

Those who run dedicated snows will give you crap, and those that run dedicated summers will do the same.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

All of us have to compromise at some point or we'd be running racing slicks, but generally speaking, you want to run a nice sticky extreme performance summer tire, not an all season.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Denied at the net.... They said they couldnt do my alingment becasue a special steering position calibration tool was needed they didnt have.
As far as I know my car doesnt have any type of stabil track system. Do they really need this to do my alingment?
My first impressions of my All season GoodYear F1's is GOOD.
They have a really neat feature I am going to snap pix of. I am not sure if it an actual "feature" But I noticed and I like it
The feature is a lip very close to the rim, that sticks out farther than the rim. I assume to help with curb rash.
AND THEY ARE ALL SEASONS with a treadwear rating in the 400's and at 900$ a set, thats important.
OK I admit that I used to run all season on my old 928, but never on my 996. As for the steering position calibrator, I think this is only on cars with PSM, and I don't know what it has to do with an alignment. I think you need a PST2 tool set the steering position calibrator. Bet Loren at Renntech knows.
The steering sensor tool is required for cars with PSM since one of the inputs to PSM is the steering wheel angle. If they get the steering wheel a bit crooked, PSM gets unpleasantly weird. If you don't have PSM it should not matter. Any alignment shop that leaves you with a crooked steering wheel is worthless.
The rubber lip you describe is usually called a "rim protector" and you have correctly identified it's purpose. Some tires have them some don't.
Regards,
This is what I thought regarding the PSM. and Yes it was pst2 tool that was needed. Does anyone know the option code for the PSM on a 99MY. Is their any other way to tell visually?

I use a specialty alignment shop in town that does a lot of race cars and SCCA racers vehicles. They also do tough stuff like twin I beam front where you heat and bend the beams to get the right camber. Anyway, 4 wheel alignment on the Porsche was $59.99. Hands off the steering wheel at 130 mph 2 years later. I've aligned cars before, my Jeep, a former MG, and a former XKE Jag, and it takes time to get it right in the driveway, but it's not rocket science.
And yea, I like the rim protector tires, got the BFG All Terrain KOs on my Jeep!
as a daily driver - why couldn't you run all seasons...
I'm seriously contemplating Continental ExtremeContact DWP or Goodyear F1
BTW I have my popcorn already in the oven
I'm running the Michelin Pilot Sports A/S's on my DD and like them (sort of). I will get +35,000 miles on them, so that I like. There is a trade off, however. LOTS less grip than the PS2's I was running prior. Really depends on what you expect from the tire, I suppose.
whats wrong with all seasons? Did I put a set of Bowbows on my car or what? Or is this more like a Pocket Protector?
TW- thanks for the code. I dont have it.
Those who run dedicated snows will give you crap, and those that run dedicated summers will do the same. All seasons tend to yield a comprimise tire, giving up something in the process.
All seasons are just fine...
...in Minnesota in the winter. You're getting flak because you paid all this money for a super-high-performance sports car, and then put on tires that don't give you nearly the performance you paid for. All of us have to compromise at some point or we'd be running racing slicks, but generally speaking, you want to run a nice sticky extreme performance summer tire, not an all season.
Please tell me it's not a 60,000 mile tire
Anyhow, my advice is to forget about the alignment. If your old tires wore right, it's fine and wouldn't have changed getting new tires mounted. What's the worst that could happen, you wear them out quickly and have a great excuse to replace them with some star specs or RE11s?
Hey Shark back to the alignment thing, I wouldn't take the car there even if they would give in. I suspect they'd just throw a generic alignment on and possibly not toe the rears right if at all. Go ahead and do a super alignment from a real deal porsche place.
that didnt say Harbor Freight - it must work (and cost money.... real money!)
BTW I hate junk! Esp cheap Chinese JUNK !!
anyone need a Harbor Freight Gift Card worth $55 ..... ? $45 FREE shipping
