Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Left 02 armed and killed battery. Of course, I cannot get access to the battery or the terminals in the engine compartment as the switched will not work. Tried the procedure in the manual and the alarm goes off, I cannot get it to turn off, and the switches still do not open either end. Also tries a lighter plug to lighter plug charger and that will make the alarm LED in the radio blink, but still not luck with the switches. If I can just get one open, then I can jump the car or trickle charge the battery. Still wonder why Porsche felt the need to not have at least one end be a cable pull. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Can anyone help? I really do not want to resort to looking for the emergency cables by pulling wheel liners or tail lamps. Is there any other things that I can try? Thanks in advance for the help.

POST 2Original post

You have an emergency cable pull up in the right front fender. Do a search on it. Year 02 should have a red "lug" in the lower center of the fuse panel by your left ankle when in driving position. Pull it out to the stop and hook positive lead from jumper, hook ground to door latch "post" U shaped - chrome piece on door jamb. Use the key fob to disarm the alarm or put the key in the ignition and turn it. Open the front and if you want to jump start the car the rear hoods. jump the car using the plus lug on the right side of the engine and the bolt that holds the aircleaner to the frame by your right knee. Check your manual.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had to get in the wheel well as nothing else would work. Battery charged and car ok again. Still think that is a stupid design!
