I don't plan on changing the ****, just the horseshoe and boot/gaiter, so it should still function correctly.

It might be possible to cut the **** off the gaiter, have a leather person finish the edge up and use the **** you've got.

I'm willing to bet a lot that the center consoles are the same for manual and tip, meaning that the gaiter would use the same slots as the Tip's trim panel.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After detailing the interior of the car this past weekend, I thought how boring the center console looked and how I could improve it, especially the tip shifter:
Was wondering if the manual shift horseshoe and boot would fit, it looks the same size. The tip has the gear changes in the instrument panel, so no problems confirming what gear I'm in and I could trim off the top of the leather boot quite easily to fit the base of the tip gear ****.
Did a search but nothing listed, so if anyone has done this or can confirm fitment that would be great. TIA Gina
I have the original **** and gaiter for my car in graphite grey, if it's of any use to you. Yours for the cost of shipping. It might be possible to cut the **** off the gaiter, have a leather person finish the edge up and use the **** you've got. Just a thought.
I don't plan on changing the ****, just the horseshoe and boot/gaiter, so it should still function correctly. Purely cosmetic change, nothing mechanical.
Just know that, AFAIK, all the OE ****/gaiter combinations are one piece, so some surgery would be required.

I've got an original shift boot in which somebody modified to do exactly what you're talking about. If interested, PM me your email address and I can send you pictures. I was going to use it myself, but I have since sold my tiptronic car.
If the Manuel shift **** and boot are all one piece, what is the pic of earlier? Where it is clearly a seperate **** screwed on. I am interested in doing this as well!
